Take the Time Tuesday

Every so often when I loose the crafty bone and have nothing else to talk about I do Take the Time Tuesday. It is where for the past week I explore my 5 senses which lets me share some things I might not have remembered to share and let you know a little more about me and my family.

See: My Hubby learning how to use the Photoshop Elements 8 software on the picture I took of Laci this weekend. Isn't it awesome! I mean he could have done a little better detail, but it was his first time.
Laci at the Park

Hear: On the phone with my mom, "There's a rat in my house." First off, ewwww. Second, it's probably a mouse, but we are putting traps out and working on the problem. Thanks to my hubby who is macho man and went and put them out for her.

Smell: Rain & Sweat - Gross, yes - sorry... Yesterday I decided that after a two month hiatus my excuses were no longer valid and decided to go back to the gym (on a side note I did great and am going again today) but on the way there was a down pour of rain that was like a flood. I love the smell of rain, but hate the actual rain, unless it is sunny rain I love that!

Touch: Our New Camera - We got the Nikon D90 I was talking about & I totally love it! I am very happy with this purchase and look forward to learning to use it in manual mode!

Taste: Snack Crackers
They may look funky, but taste awesome! The recipe is below.
P6290497

1 box crackers
1 pkg ranch dressing mix
1 cup of oil
1 tsp crushed red pepper (can be more or less your decision)

put crackers in a 1 gallon container
in mixing cup or whatever combine oil, mix and peppers and stir
slowly drizzle over crackers
when finished place lid on crackers and slowly rotate jar to completely coat the crackers.

Bling Shoes

During my brain blank on Saturday night I started to pull out my Hot Fix tool becuase I had never played with it before (it intimidated me). I decided to put crystals on my flip flops. Go figure that as I plugged the thing in the hubby got home.

So first thing on Saturday morning I got up and began playing with it for the first time and tried to put those little crystals on my shoes. Well I say tried because I didn't get done before they started falling off. BUMMER!!! I didn't even get to take a picture of them on. But at least I know how to use the thing. After some quick googling I kind of found out that hot fix crystals don't work well on rubber and that you need to use E6000.

My luck I had the E6000, but not enough crystals to use. So what did I do? Stopped by Michaels of course and picked up a pack of larger crystals for $2.99 and used those suckers.

I think that for my frist attempt that the shoes which I already had (pardon the worn look), the glue I already had, and $2.99 for the crystals made an awesome blingy pair of shoes.

Craft Blank

I am sitting here in an empty house (Laci at Grammy's and Hubby getting overtime for a random weekend call) trying to come up with something new to make or do. I have been sitting here for an hour and a half and am just blank. I want to do something new and not copied from someone else or something that I have done before.

Why am I coming up blank? Is it because there are so many other things that I have seen that are cute that I want to do? Or is it because I am tired? Or is my mind on a crafting hiatus?

I just can't believe it. I have a room full of crafty stuff and am just BLANK! UGH, makes me kind of angry because I feel like I have waisted an hour and a half of time that I could have used to do something crafty. Oh well, I guess we all go through this slump.

At least we got our new camera today. The D90 from Nikon. We really like it, but wow... I have so much to learn. We took a lot of pictures today in automatic mode, but I hope to soon learn how to shoot in manual mode.

Alright, well to everyone out there in craft land... I hope you are having a great weekend and I hope to come up with something original soon.

Adorable Birth Announcement

Most of us here would never think about buying announcements, because admittedly we can all do ones that are just so stinkin' cute that paying for them seems pointless. But seriously, this thing had me grinning from ear to ear. Remember last month when I complained about the hubby not giving me the mail and I missed the baby shower. Well as you saw in this post, I more than made up for it with the gift basket little Levi got.

So yesterday in the mail (yes I check it now, and if it isn't there I ask for it daily) I got this adorable baby announcement. I opened it and was like what is ****gasp**** ****awwwww**** followed by another ****gasp****. I was stunned by the adorableness that came from this announcement that was ordered through www.babydmv.com. I went on there to look, and they carry all of the states driver's licenses for babies. You can't tell me that this isn't just the cutest thing ever. Oh, and I forgot to mention.... it is a magnet. I LOVE IT!!!

Baby Levi

Anyways, Happy Friday and have a great day!

Ok, so what a fantastic idea!!! I mean a little bit of time and a couple of bucks and a teenager would go nuts over this gift from How to Homemaker.

And in the spirit for the season, Crafty Batches put an adorable door hanger for the 4th of July... I wish I had the time to make this. It will go on on the to do list for next year.

Camera Suggestions

Recently hubby and I have decided to look for a new hobby since we are taking a break from soccer. Hubby wanted to do kayaking, I said no. For one we can't take Laci and two it isn't a year round sport. He hates tools, he works on the computer all day, so after looking through loads and loads of lists we both have decided on photography.

I am very excited as I have always wanted to get into photography and my little darling is a perfect model to help me stay motivated. I say this because I don't want to pay for professional shots when and if I have the ability to do them myself. Now that I have software that I can edit with as well as digital scrapbooking I am 1/2 way there. Just need the camera.

So after searching through comments, forums, and doing some research we really like the ability and features of the Nikon D90. For those of you out there that know a thing or two about cameras and photography, what is your take on these types of cameras?

Let me know so that we can take the plunge and make the purchase I have wanted for a very long time.

Thanks & TTFN!!

Dallas Zoo

This past weekend the hubby and I wanted to take Laci somewhere special. So in the effort to not watch something on TV or a movie and get out of the house we decided on the Dallas Zoo. We ended up getting a membership to the zoo, and have to go at least enough times for her to ride the carousal 77 more times so that I feel like I completly totoally get my monies worth. hehehe. It costs $2 every time if you don't have this particular membership, so if she goes 77 more times she will have surpassed that and made me feel like it is ok to have spent the money.

Other than the ride we had a GREAT time at the zoo and Laci loves seeing the animals. We love the new exhibit with the giraffes and elephants. We got to feed the giraffe again, which in cost is ridiculious, but amazing to be that close.

I snapped this as we were leaving the Giants of the Savannah area. My two goofballs are adorable sitting on this little elephant statue.

Laci and Daddy at the Zoo

Anyways, I can't wait to go back again soon. Espically with the camera we want to get. That would be awesome!

Lucky Girl

So for my birthday, my hubby without his knowledge bought me a whole load of cake decorating supplies.

My sister and brother in law got me the Sure Cuts a Lot software, if you want it, or are looking at getting it go through Cute as a Fox so that she gets credit. Now I need someone to teach me how to make SVG files. Any takers? Oh, and I need to hook the thing up to my machine and see if I can get it working. I am currently a little busy with a couple other projects that are awesome.

My in-laws got me Photoshop Elements 8. I love it! Now I just need to completely figure out how to use it. I have played with a couple things and looked at some online tutorials, but I think it is going to take trial, error and a lot of frustration. Any takers on helping me out though would be appreciated... if you live in the DFW area, have your photoshop software on a laptop and want to meet for lunch or something sometimes to play with our software together I might just be interested. I looked up some local scrapbooking groups, but nothing is planned for the near future and I want to learn how to use it sooner than later.

Oh, for those of you that do digitally scrapbook, where do you get your stuff printed? Any really good sites that don't break the piggy bank?

Did I mention I am REALLY glad it is Friday?

It's My Birthday

Has anyone been following the Make a Cake Series over at Make It and Love It? I have and for my birthday I told my husband he bought me stuff to make a cake. At least I made my own birthday cake and it turned out wonderful. I am so happy with it. To clarify, I did not like making gumpaste, but I did enjoy the fondant and will do it again.

What do you think?

Father's Day Ideas

It is hard to believe that last years Fathers day (it was on my birthday last year) was a year ago. We are T Minus 7 days until Fathers Day and I don't have a clue what to get my guy. But just because I don't have a clue doesn't mean I haven't been thinking about it.

Has anyone been following the Make a Cake Series over at Make It and Love It? If you have and have been waiting for a perfect excuse project to go buy the materials for trying fondant I have some inspiration for you.

Matt over at Tiepedia contacted me with this adorable post of "Not Your Ordinary Father's Day Ties". He is definatly right that all men do not like ties. Mine hasn't worn one in almost 5 years for work and at the occasional wedding over the last couple years so needless to say, I will not be buying him any ties anytime soon. But if you want to have a joke or cute cake for your man then stop on over at his site. Here are a couple of the examples he gave. He has all the links where he found them over at his site.

Incase your guy does like ties and you are looking for last minute tie gifts you can go to http://www.ties.com/ to buy a cute professional tie for Father's Day!
Happy creating and shopping!

Giveaway Shirts Unveiled

Ok, so I show that all the winners have gotten their giveaway shirts, so I can now show them to everyone...

How do you think I did?

The Harris Family wants a flower with the word love on it in a size 2.

Love Shirt

Jackie has asked for a size 5 shirt for her daughter "J" who loves anything to do with animals. (the shirt may be a little big, but it was hart to find a white 5T shirt, so at least it is big and not small... also, do bugs count as animals, because with this free reign I fell in LOVE with these ladybugs!) Also, the red paint had sparkles in it... I thought it was perfect. Too bad I couldn't find all the colors like this!

Lady Bug Shirt

Misty over at The Creative Itch has asked for a size 3 shirt for one of her little boys who loves cars and trucks.

Truck Shirt

They turned out great and I learned a couple new things about layering with the freezer paper. It was great and I can't wait to do it again.

It's Stinkin' Cute Craft Thursday #7

Welcome to "It's Sew Stinkin' Cute Craft Thursday". I would like to thank everyone that participated this week! I am super excited because we are starting to pick up a couple more each week!

I loved everything that was added to the linky party and it truly gives me inspirations for my next projects!

All about Mommies did a beautiful set of Mommy/daughter Outfits for her two little buttons and herself. It is just adorable. What talent and patience (I wish I could make clothing, but I really lack the patience)! You are amazing!

Sorta Frugal did an adorable apron! She said she forgot or didn't read the directions and got frustrated. Hun, you are a true crafter, you don't need directions! It looks great!

Twinkle Toes did a beautiful Shirred Top that was recycled out of a different shirt! It turned out super cute, and your little one is such a model. Wonderful! I just love it!

I LOVED everything, so go ahead and everyone grab a featured button!

New Wordless Wednesday Format

Because of the lack in participation I have decided that instead of doing a linky party for Wordless Wednesday, I am going to post my picture for Wednesday. I still want to see yours so just leave me a comment so that I can hop over and see what you have going on. Ok, so Wordless won't really happen, lets just say I will still be writing, but less (I can't help it - I swear!).

Anyways, yesterday after cheerleading we went to the hospital. Mom is doing great!!! Triple fusion done and she is SOOOO much better than last year. Anyways, I snapped this as we were leaving to go home.

Have a great day!

Stuff

I have nothing better to call this post than just plain ole "Stuff".

This weekend I was super busy with two graduation parties. Jake's cousin Andrew graduated from Irving HS and will be attending ACU. Also, my brother in law Tim was celebrating getting his Masters in Engineering from Baylor. It made for a busy weekend!

Yesterday the day FLEW by because I finished up my winners shirts (these will go out in the mail today), cleaned downstairs (except the dining room where the magic is happening since I need to clean my craft room - Is that bad that I am junkin up another room?), and had the fam over for dinner last night! It's ok though, because after 4 1/2 more days I am taking 5 days off!

Where am I going you ask? No where... Vacations will exist in 2-3 years when Laci is out of Daycare, at least (1) car is paid off and some of our other expenses go down.

Ok, so tomorrow my mom is having a triple fusion on her left ankle. I am scared an excited for her. This is the last surgery she will have to have before being able to really walk with out being in pain. She had surgery on her right ankle last summer before I started this blog. Then she had surgery on her hip in December, now she is having her other ankle done. I am very excited because in a couple years when we go to Disney World she will be able to go with us and really enjoy it.

Anyways, I so want to post pictures of the shirts, but I don't want to ruin the supprise for the winners. I will post pictures as soon as I know they have all gotten their shirts.

I could post pictures of some of the graduation parties, but they aren't any big deal. However, when I get the chance I do want to share how to paint a perfect line. My sister isn't real crafty, but this girl figured out to paint the most perfect lines with painters tape on the planet! She did her study and I am amazed at the beautiful job she did! It looks better than professional! I love her and she rocks!

It's Stinkin' Cute Craft Thursday #6

Welcome to "It's Sew Stinkin' Cute Craft Thursday". I would like to thank everyone that participated this week.

You all are so crafty, just look at these cute things that were linked up this week!

Headband from Creative Itch
It's no secret... I love Misty! She is such a creative talented lady! Just look at the adorable headband she made out of juice pouches. Seriously Misty, we go through about 24 of these suckers a week at least, and that is just one kid... The posibilites are endless. So yes I would like to see a tut on this one, as well as I might have to buy those other ones for the wallet and note pad holder. Oh, and you mentioned a bag - did you buy that tut or are you DIYin it? I heart these headbands though! You rock!

Robot Wall Hanging from Cute as a Fox
This week Ashley has uploaded her Robot Wall Hanging. Isn't that lil guy cute! So, I guess every month Christy, of ChristyNelson.net has a craft challenge. For $5 you get a packet containing some craft supplies and you have to come up with 1 project which uses some of every one of the supplies. What a neat idea! I may have to participate some time. You did a great job!

Flowers from Floaredesuflet
This week the midnight flower was uploaded from Floaredesuflet. It is really pretty, but I have to admit, the one that was just posted on that hat looks like June 1st... It is so cute!

I LOVED everything, so go ahead and everyone grab a featured button!
