So a couple weeks ago my daughters teacher was in an accident and shattered her arm. About a week and a half ago (right before the party) she asked if I thought I could make her a sling since she was tired of the black and blue ones. She said she liked Hello Kitty, so I went and found Hello Kitty fabric. Let me say... I have never made my own pattern. I was a bit terrified, but agreed since I knew I could do it, it would just take trial and error. Lets just say that it turned out great!
I only had to re-do one thing on the sling. It was that little slider piece that has padding so that you don't get a burn on your neck, that piece was going to be the death of me. Luckily it only took 2 tries on that piece, which was good because I was getting tired.
I attempted to take a picture of me wearing the sling, but I was not a pretty model last night, so I cut my head off so that we can just focus on the important thing.. the sling. Here it is, what do you think? Not too shabby for a first time sling maker, huh?
Jake is taking it up to the school today so that Angie can start using it instead of the black and blue ones she was given at the hospital. ***Side Note - Should have taken a picture of the inside because the inside fabric was pink with darker pink hearts. You can barely see it on the slider piece where I am wearing the sling. But I had to have two fabrics so that the inside was pretty too. Like a hidden treasure kind of.***
Have a great day!

ReplyDeleteI'm sorry she hurt herself and I hope she heals quickly!
Visiting from My Frugal Family. That is one cute sling. If I or my daughter ever need one (heaven forbid), I know I have options. TFS
ReplyDeleteThanks ladies! I was very surprised that it really didn't take that long. Next time I am sure I can do it even faster, it was kind of... how do I do that... the first time, but should be pretty easy to replicate. Thanks for visiting and leaving a comment!
