Cookies, cookies, cookies... I am addicted!

So yesterday I started this post and I got as far as this "I want to do ones like this...." two paragraphs down. Skip down to "TODAY's POST" a couple paragraphs down to reach current writing.

So I really want to do more cookies... I mean like I want to do them now. Problem is that work is in the way, but that's ok. Tomorrow night though I am going to make cookies to take to the hospital for my sister. I know I am a good sissy she would say. She actually randomly asked me the other day why I loved her so much. Stupid question, but sweet none the less. I love her for many reasons, but the reason I love her the most is because she knows how much work it takes to do the things that I do for her and REALLY appreciates it, you know. Not just a little bit, but a lot.

Anyways, I have been looking at tutorials and pictures and oohing and awhing over these cookies that I have seen. They are UH-mazing... and I want to do them. I have been reading recipes and looking at designs and getting the most amazing inspiration. My hubby will be out of town for a couple days, so tomorrow night is the perfect opportunity to do these. I am pretty excited. I want to do ones like this....

TODAY'S POST:
Do you ever get so busy that you write a couple paragraphs, get stuck doing other stuff and then life just takes over? Thats how I felt yesterday, and truly how I feel today. I got home yesterday, took Laci to take pictures in the bluebonnets... pictures to follow another day, went home, freezer papered two shirts, went to cheer private for Laci, came home and MADE COOKIES... I went to bed at 1am. I am VERY tired!

Ok, so my sister will probably be induced tomorrow and I am really excited that Laci will have a cousin to play with. With that said I decided that I wanted to do onesie and baby bottle cookies. But because I had to flood them, let them dry then do the second layer of decorating I had to get them started last night. So, with that said... I was up until 1 am making cookies. They don't look like much yet, but with the second layer of decorating they will be really cute... (crossing my fingers hoping so) PROMISE!

Anyways, it has seriously taken me about an hour and a half just to write that... so before the phone rings again I am going to wrap this up. Tell me what you think so far.

Homemade Cookies for the Sweet Peas

Ok, so Saturday Laci had her first Sweet Pea blastball game. Pictures of the game to follow at a later date. It was so stinkin' adorable! The girls were so prepared and you could tell that they had been practicing.

Each girl was assigned a week to bring snacks, and the first game was ours. Now being the crafty mom I am I couldn't just take a store bought snack. It just wouldn't do. I had REALLY been wanting to try out making my own cookies and doing royal icing on top for decorations. I have to say I have a long way to go to get good at it, but what lacked in unrefined talent on decorating the taste made up the difference and then some.

I got more semi snide comments about my ability, but then also got a lot of credit for it as well. It turned out great! I really like being the mom who can make the event special for the kids. There are moments that sometimes I think I should just stop and be the normal mom who would just buy store bought stuff, but that isn't me and I just can't bring myself to do it. Do any of you ever feel this way?

Anyways, here they are (pictures taken with my phone and they were devoured before we got good pictures with the good camera - OOPS), what do you think?

What recipe did I follow and what directions did I use? Glad you are interested... I found this AWESOME blog called Glorious Treats
it is nothing short of amazing. If you do some poking around the site you can find many amazing ideas! The sugar cookie recipe is here and the royal icing recipe is here. This site is amazing and inspiring! Go take a look because it sure did inspire me!

Have a great Monday, and if anyone makes any cookies I would like to see pictures!

It's Stinkin' Cute Craft Thursday #48

Ok, so if you haven't taken a moment to look at how busy I have been on invites this past week, go take a look and tell me what you think. I am pretty stoked that they are almost all in the process of being handed out.

I would love to feature all of you, but some how I managed to pick the three that popped out the most to me.

My sweet Ashley over at Cute as a Fox managed to make something that I already thought was adorable, even cuter. I just love her baby shower gifts. This is a cupcake made out of burp cloths and baby socks. There are many more that are cute as well. Go take a look.

Sarah over at A Little of This and A Little of That shows us how to make some AWESOME vases... I will totally have to do that, because that is just super cool! I want to do some funky colors and can't wait to experiment!

My new neighbor... well she lives so close to me it seems that way.. Jennifer over at Life, Crafts, and Whatever made a throw pillow that is a knock off that looks just a perfect if she had bought it at the store. BTW the bedding behind the pillow is adorable! I love it!
