Wonka Party Planning - Take 2 - Sayings for the Walls

So I am totally behind in the planning for this years party. I am hoping in the next couple of weeks that we get on the ball and get more of the decorations done so that I feel better. Last night we did finish all but one or two of the sayings for the walls.

Here are some in action shots using this amazing machine that is basically a cricut/silhouette on crack and doesn't have to have a mat. You lay it on this board thing that suctions the paper down. Because of this we can go cheepo and use construction paper. Uhm... awesome!

This is me looking kinda scruffy, but turn about is fair play, I did take a picture of my mom, so she took a picture of me. I am still unconvinced that I look that tiny. Maybe it is because I look at myself in the mirror daily, but the number on the scale doesn't seem to coordinate with what I see in the mirror. What gives yo? Although I must say, my legs and tummy aren't in this picture and this is where I see the issues that I am referring to. Aside from that I need a good tan.

Here is an up close before taking one of the cuts off the machine. You can barely tell there are cuts, but there are and it is AWESOME!!!

Anyways, next time I go up there we are going to start on the characters, but would you believe that it actually took us almost (3) hours to do the sayings. No joke... I'm serious!

Seems like just yesterday...

I was lifting her into her crib, teaching her to write her first name, making sure she wouldn't fall off the playground equipment, buckling her in the car seat, she cheered me on during my BIG day (college graduation), working on her back roll and so many other wonderful memories...

Now today, she is jumping up on her big girl bed, writing her full name (first, middle and last), can recite our address and phone number by heart, plays on the playground while Jake and I sit idly to the side enjoying watching her climb and have fun not worried at all if she will fall, buckling herself in the car, about to graduate from Pre-K at her school, can do (3) back walkovers and working on her back hand spring, a plethora of random amazing things come out of her mouth every single day, and just when I don't think I could love her more she says things like... "Mommy, you rock!" She has blossomed into a beautiful little girl who although at times is a little stinker, she is my little stinker and she is a blessing to be around.

Yesterday we converted her to her "BIG GIRL BED", my small short little munchkin had out grown the current conversion of a day bed and it was time to convert. Laci helped us choose her bedding and we went with a beautiful purple which complemented her room decorations perfectly.

Here is my soon to be 5 year old, getting bigger every day, making me more and more proud and becoming so independent.

Football Season is OVER - Congrats to the Giants

So my BFF Tia... she might kill me for this... Here she is...

Isn't she super stinkin' cute! I heart this chick... she is actually the reason I met my hubby... I am forever in debt to her for this. Well if you couldn't tell, Tia is a Giants fan... I am here today to show you just how big of a fan she is and how I aided her in decorations and clothes for her party/kids.

So one day last week when I was playing driver to my hubby and munchkin for doctors appointments I got to sneak in 2 hours of crafty time with my buddy. Tia wanted to make clothes for her kids instead of buying them jerseys that were EXPENSIVE!!!

So we used the silhouette to trace the logos we wanted and used some heat transfer vinyl from Craft Vinyl (Yo Nick... You rock!) who has the best prices and service ever!

Here are her two adorable munchkins all decked out in their Giants gear... The shirts and pants total were $30.00 and then $6.00 for the white t-shirt vinyl. So for $36.00 they both had two custom outfits that they loved and rocked like mini rockstars!

Her son loves Cruz #80 and her daughter loves Manning #10.

Of course he wanted his hair blue... Crazy kiddo!

Because Tia was doing a buffet style party she wanted to have confetti for the Giants... here are the awesome pictures of her spread... note the super cool confetti that I helped her make... *** BTW I was lamesauce and didn't go... dude I am not into crowds and had a mini party of my own with my mom, hubby and my munchkin ***

Also, I am positive NO ONE went home hungry!

Last but not least was a parting gift from one of the pieces of confetti. Tia thinks it is just an awesome reminder of a great day! A piece of confetti got wet and was in her sink overnight. Look at what happened! Any suggestions to get it off? I already suggested bleach and a Mr. Clean sponge thing....

Looks like everyone must have had a great time! What an awesome end to that game too. I personally had no pull either way because the Cowboys were not in it, but because of Tia I figured I would root for the Giants! So, go Giants! Hope everyone had fun with their friends and family regardless of who won or lost the game!

Wonka Party Planning - Take 1

If you know me personally, you know that I have been incredibly busy the past couple of months. My blogging has suffered and I am sorry that you have missed me. Oh, come on.... you know you have!

Anyways, party planning has already commenced and I have already started to think about decorations and am actually 4 weeks behind on this part. EEK! But the cake and face painters have been ordered/scheduled which are 2 major components, I still need to order the bounce house... but in all relativity... this is nothing. I mean I still have time right... WHAT DO YOU MEAN I ONLY HAVE 57 DAYS... CRAP! I have a lot to do!

But the invites have been started and now need to be printed and assembled.

Oh, you would like to see the prototype? Sure! I am so happy to have found Serendipity Soiree on Etsy! They were a pleasure to work with and I am very pleased with what they offered and what they created for me, errr... I mean Laci!

So for the outside I wanted the wrapper like in the movie, the back side I did a little editing on because I didn't like the Nutritional Info or the bar code provided. But that was some quick editing and it is all good now. For the golden ticket I really wanted gold leaf paper like in the movie... but seriously there is a plague for me trying to get golden tickets, I searched high and low for months. Below is what the Etsy site put together for me. I am even going to print gold on the back side so that they are gold on front and back. Oh, and you better bet the golden ticket will be in the chocolate bar! I am no amateur... it's going to be done right!

So here are the pictures:

I am so totally in love with the fact that with the Silhouette Studio program I didn't have to cut these out by hand. Huh?!? Yeah you read that right! I popped the graphic into the Silhouette Studio program and then did the trace function around the tickets. After I did the trace function and was satisfied I PDF'ed the ticket with the print and cut feature.

I took the ticket and had it printed and then popped it onto my silhouette mat which cut the three tickets in seconds and all I had to do was sit back and admire my handy work. It was the first time I had used the silhouette print and cut feature and darn if it isn't the handiest thing EVER!!! I am going to be ordering more blades and cutting a LOT of stuff with that thing by using that amazing feature.

Have you used the feature? I bet if you haven't you want to now!

Blanket Gift

Before I go into the weekend without posting anything else I thought I should put up a picture of the blanket gift we are giving to the girls. I have handed 1/2 of them off that already have the megaphone sewn on to another mom to bling up. I love how they turned out. What do you think?

Valentine's Shirt and .studio design debut

So if you read my MIA post you found out that because I am AI and Corel Draw illiterate I am unable to become a Silhouette Studio Contributing Artist. So I decided that instead of an attempt to become popular that way... totally joking... I would just give them away for free and that hopefully as an added benefit I will get a little more web traffic.

Today I introduce to you the first of the Holiday Circle Designs that I created using Silhouette Studio Designer Edition Software. This one is for Valentine's Day... in retrospect I wish that I had used Silver or Red Glitter Heat Transfer vinyl... but C'est la vie and it is what it is right... I still love the design, just wish I had done a different flavor of vinyl. But you live and you learn right? Right!

I have been extremely MIA lately and totally deserve to be publicly flogged for my lack of posting and explanations. Let me first start off by telling you that I have been busy, not just normal life busy, but like crazy life busy.

1) I am taking my fitness goals to the next level. Instead of just eating right and occasionally going to the gym I am going at a minimum of 4-5 times a week. It takes away from some of my family time, but on the other hand it is awesome to see that I have lost 20 pounds in 6 months and now I need to tone. You can't tone your body by just eating right (with a lot of wine... but that isn't food right?!?) So needless to say I was pretty stoked when trying on some jeans yesterday. It is the first pair I have bought in over a year and a half and lets just say they were lots smaller and fit a lot better. So hard work and eating right (negative the wine) is totally paying off!

2) I was REALLY hoping to share some great news... but after some HARD work and exhausting trials and errors I don't think I am going to be able to deliver that awesome news. So I might as well tell you. I have been trying for over a month to get my designs ready to send over to Silhouette because I wanted to be able to sell designs over there. Well unfortunately they want the designs in SVG format, and because I create everything in .studio I have no way (easily and consistently) covert to .svg format. So I was REALLY sad yesterday when I got the email saying that they still would prefer the .svg files. If you are a Silhouette Artist person... just saying.... the designs still cut crystal clear, and I kind of don't understand why you request.svg files and then convert to .studio I mean why can't a person just submit .studio as a final... but never the less I tried the trial version of Adobe Illustrator (if I purchased this it would cost $200.00) and I am AI illiterate... So this is my hopefully good news, turned bad news for me... but I am turning it around and going to do more good news.

3) Since I cannot seem to convert my designs to .svg to sell on silhouette I think I am going to offer them here as .studio files for FREE!!! Yes you read that right... free. They can't stop me from giving away designs that I created, and since they don't like the .studio format to be sent in... I don't have time to re-create this to .svg or figure out AI so.... You lucky readers that have silhouettes will get to have some of these files at no cost to you. All I ask is that you post your creations (give me credit), link back to me, and let me know what awesome stuff you did with the files. So I need to clean up the last bit of some of the files and create an example and then I will provide the download link to each design individually (this way I can tell which designs ya'll like and would like more of)... So here are some examples (taken with my phone of my computer screen of the designs so excuse the crudeness, but of some of the work)... If you are a Silhouette Designer and you see my design here and then re-create it in .svg to sell I fully expect the royalty... because these are my creations, ideas and hard work... Copyrights will be placed on each design... you can make stuff to sell with the designs, you just cannot sell the design.
- This set is one of (3) that I plan on introducing that you can cut out of paper for a scrapbook... or what I am going to do... cut the design out of heat transfer vinyl apply to 13 different onsies and give a full set as a baby gift.

- Here is the 4th of July and Valentines ones I was working on.. I am changing the Valentines one a little bit but aside from that, it is almost done.

- Here is the St. Patrick's Day design I was working on... ignore the coloring on it.

4) The Itty Bitty Kitties (the team Laci is on for cheer) won the ACA Nationals yesterday... isn't she just the cutest in her little National Champion Jacket?!?

5) I am ready to get back in the blogging swing of things and hopefully have lots of fun things to share... I just want to slow down a little bit so I can share some of these things...

I know I have told you I have been busy... and well I have.

Below is the 27 total pages/cover/spine from the Year in the Life of Laci Lawson book using the My Memories Software... First let me just say how excited I was to finish this. The software was so easy to use and I got this book done relatively fast. Oh, and in no way was this a sponsored post... I did win a facebook giveaway for a free version 3 of the software, but I wasn't contacted by them to do things and credit them.

Now I must say, there is still some editing to be done and some proofing, but for the most part the book is 99% done and almost ready for printing. What do you think? Any suggestions, changes or thoughts. I LOVE comments by the way and can't wait to hear what you think!

(3) Back Walkovers & Scarfs

I have been so busy lately with gifts... here are some of the 40 scarfs I made as well as a video of Laci doing her new skill. We are so proud of her, and momma is tired of making scarfs. Couple that with my clumsiness last night and falling down the stairs and my rear end also hurts. Talk about a bruised ego. Ha...

Luckily I didn't get seriously hurt.

Anyways, on to the more interesting stuff. Here is a video of my little Laci at 4.5 doing (3) back walkovers in a row. Now she just has to get them a little faster.

What I have been up to and Doodle our Elf on the Shelf

I know you are probably wondering what the reason for my long break has been. Well I can tell you that I am so incredibly busy with Laci doing cheer, me doing the team gifts, and trying to get all of Christmas rounded up.

As far as cheer goes I have so many posts that I need to do about the team gifts yet I really don't have the time to do them. But, hubby snapped this adorable picture of Laci on Saturday at the competition (she looks so grown up)... which they won, and I love it! I also bought a couple others. They are just so stinkin' cute!

I love it! All of it, and Laci is doing so stinkin good!

Anyways, we have an Elf on the Shelf. His name is Doodle and he has been getting into lots of stuff this year. Here are some of the things he has done.

Made a snow angel (er... elf angel) out of sugar:

It's Stinkin' Cute Craft Thursday #81

Ok so I totally have (3) awesome features!

First is the super adorable t-shirt scarf that is made by Made in a Day! I LOVE IT and can't wait to get some t-shirts so that I can do this!

I totally love the knock off of a knock off pillow that was made by Tales of a Trophy Wife. I would love to have these on my couch! My current throw pillows are in bad shape after 3 years! These look quick easy, fun and you could do them for any season. For instance valentines you could do some with hearts that say LOVE, HEART, BE MINE... for St. Patty's Day you could do, CLOVER, LUCKY, GREEN... for 4th of July you could do STARS, STRIPES, AMERICA... you get the point... they are CUTE girly! I love them!

Last I was floored at this uh-mazing desk re-do. It is beautiful! Milk and Main Furniture Remodeling did a fantastic job on their distressed birdy desk and chair combo. Great job!

Itty Bitty Kitty Sign

It's Stinkin' Cute Craft Thursday #80

My life has been one big ball of busy this past couple of months. I will never ever volunteer to be the gift person ever again... EVER. I may offer to help, but will NOT be in charge. Heck last night my sister goes "you know Holden isn't going to be able to wear those onsies forever" To which I should have replied... do you know the last time I made something for Laci to wear? It has been since like the spring. I hate it! I want to do stuff for her and simply DON'T have time... So I guess I get to neglect making things for my kid because yours is more important... Don't mine me, I am in a crummy mood and haven't had enough coffee...

Anyways, in an attempt to finish what I have started here are two awesome features.

The first one comes from An Irish Italian Blessing who shows us how to make an adorable centerpiece, front door decoration, half wall decoration, you name it... it could probably go there with ease... It is a GLITTER PUMPKIN!!! Any of you that personally know me know how much I love glitter and just how much is currently on my kitchen floor. So if you want something else to do before people come to your house for thanksgiving go make this adorable thing! But as a warning... do it outside or in the garage... it could be messy!

The next thing comes to us from Lady with the Red Rocker... They are Sugar Cookie Bars with Cream-Cheese Butter Frosting! Can we all say delish?!?! So if you are in need of a pitty party (raising my hand) or just want a delish treat to share, go cook up a tasty storm!

IBK Gift #3

So the girls had their first competition this past weekend... They came in second and really did a great job!

Anyways, the first competition gift we gave were personalized clipboard cases:

I really meant to take a picture of all 16 of them together, but time got the better of me, and I forgot... but I don't ever wish to do them again, so I am ok. :o)

We do have one boy on the team and I couldn't do the cheerleader on the thing... I thought it would be too girly, so I did this:

What do you think? Each clipboard case had an 8 pack of crayons inside and 10 coloring pages. I think they turned out awesome! Don't you? I have lots of work to do on the next couple gifts, but they are getting there!

Bobcats Gift #1

So my craftiness has spread and other teams have asked for my help... I am not good at saying no. I suck at it dude! Why?!? Because I love crafts, know I can help, and make a lot of kids gifts rock...

So when my friend asked me to help with her daughter's team gifts I couldn't say no. The first gift I helped her with is their water bottles... We used my cricut and other software to cut out the vinyl. Didn't they turn out cute!?!

I am posting (3) quick features because I am hungry and want one of them so stinkin bad, and the other two are just adorable!

Scattered Thoughts of a Crafty Mom made an adorable rainbow princess dress. You are inspiring and I would love nothing more than to make Laci a dress from scratch. This is just beautiful! What a wonderful job!

Diary of a Crafty Lady has made me feel like a slacker since I bought a Jessie Costume for Laci... luckily she decided at the last minute to go as Bat Girl, because didn't look near as cute as her little munchkin! I love it! Such a great job!

IBK Gift #1 & 2

The IBK gift comittee decided to give the girls garment bags and make up cases for their first two gifts to have to take to competitions, keep the uniform in when not in use, etc. We found them at Sam Moon Online... uhm... yes please! They are zebra print goodness. Here is where you can find the garment bag and the make up case. We then added a little tag (from All Stitch for $0.85 a piece) to both the garment bag and the make up bag so that they each knew who's was who's... they turned out adorable, the parents loved them, and my hubby would tell you he is glad because they are out of the house. :o)

Now we do have a boy on the team and we couldn't give him zebra print stuff, so he got a duffle bag. I promise with shipping his costs the same as both the girls bags... ridiculious I know!

Cheer Gift for a different team

You know how I said I have been busy... well I have. I am helping other people out too, which increases my work load, but I love crafts and have a problem saying no. Anyone else have this problem? It is an issue if you ask me. Anyways, one of the gift chairs for another team asked for my help, so I said sure. We spent a Saturday morning (I think... can't remember at this point) cutting out letters for them to sew on the booty of the shorts for the girls.

Before you ask, no they weren't hand cut. My cricut can cut fabric. In fact I am sure the silohuette can too, I just haven't figured it out yet. Anyways, so when we were done the shorts looked like this before being sewn on...

They were trying to zig zag the letters on, and were having some issues. I don't know what type of machine they were using but I haven't ever had issues. If something is too small sometimes I will do a straight stitch instead of the zig zag... seems to help with finer fabrics and such... but hopefully they got it figured out because they will be cute when they are done.

I promise you all I have been so crafty lately, I just haven't had the chance to share anything with you because I have been so busy. So today I finished all 16 of IBK gift #3.... The decorated hair brush. I love how they turned out! You can get a GREAT price on brushes from any local beauty supply. If you want to know where I got mine just email me and I will tell you.

I decided that I wanted to hide the brush type and SKU number so I added the megaphone on the front, what do you think? Anything else I should do to jazz up these beauties? I was thinking maybe some ribbon or something on the bottom tied through the hole. Thoughts?

Reality Check

The past couple of weeks have been an amazing blur... that is until Thursday night. Let me start off with the good before I get to the sad.

Two weeks ago my company had the entire department in town. There was a lot of REALLY good training that went on and I got the "Butt Kickin Award" for all that I have done and accomplished this past year. For those of you that know me personally you know what I do and how hard I have pushed myself professionally this past 6 months. It really showed and has paid off.

Last week I went to the Texas State Fair with the family and had an uh-mazing time with my family. I broke my 5 week diet to eat some of the most fantastic fried food these pretty lips have ever tasted. Fried Pineapple Upside Down Cake... need I say more?

Then last Tuesday I went out to Arizona to do some training for one of our new systems our department will be using. We got so much accomplished in such a short period of time. We were there for about 2.5 days and it was really great. In fact I got to even meet one of my favorite blogging buddies Ashley over at Cute as a Fox. She had her Elmer's Craft Party when I was in town so that I could go. Let me say that some of her friends are uber crafty! Wish I had 1/4 of the paper crafting talent that one of the ladies there had. Anyways, I owe Ashley a HUGE thank you for having me over!

Thursday night (my last night there) I was out at dinner with my co-worker and our vendor. It was then that I got some very sad news. My grandfather "Pop" had slipped into a coma and they didn't expect him to make it until Monday.

Let me take a break to say that for the past year and a half he hasn't been the same. Infact it wasn't Pop at all. The calm, gentle person I had known for the 26 years before had slipped into a state that on a good day might have known my grandmother's name, had random violent outbursts, and just had really left us a long time ago. So for the past 2 years it has been really difficult to see him like that.
He just wasn't who I remembered...

I then left from Arizona on Friday morning and went out to see one of my girlfriends in LA. I got there and she totally kept my mind off of it. We went out and saw LA, China Town, the oldest street in LA, went out dancing... all in all I had a wonderful time and coulen't have thanked her more for keeping me occupied.

On the way to the airport (Sunday) I got a call from my husband telling me that my grandfather had infact passed away that morning. On one hand I appreciate my mom and sister not wanting me to get upset while I was on my trip, since really there wasn't much I could have done anyways. But on the other hand I wished I would have known sooner. So when I tell you that he infact passed away it is very much a sad thing, but I know he was hurting and in pain, so it is very much a good thing.

I remember when I was just into college and my grandfather had just had surgery to put a pace maker in. He refused to eat. I went down there every day for weeks at lunch and fed him. I know I was his favorite... he always paid special attention to me when I was little. Anyways, because I went to see him every day he got better, but of course that was 10 years ago. Anyways, he was an amazing man. He was 94, almost 95 years old, and if he had made it one month longer my grandmother and him would have been married for 70 years. He served in WWII in the 144th Infantry Division and was such a patient man. I already missed who he was before, but now I miss him as well.

Pop I Love You, and am glad that you can finally be at peace.

Ok, not to put the pressure on everyone; however, if I don't hit over 50 link ups this week, I will be taking a break from my linky party for a while. Although it is so wonderful to see what everyone does... I have tried, I have done giveaways, and made comments, I just don't go sell my soul to get followers, so I hope that doesn't kill me in the long run. Last but not least is RoCa and Company who made the coolest looking frog/motorcross shirt for her son using an aplique technique! I love it and the Superman one too!!!

Lucky in Love - 8 years and counting

How did I get so lucky? For the past 8 years I have been married to a man that treats me right, loves me for who I am, encourages me to better myself, continues to think about our future, and is the best thing that could have ever happened to me. He has given me our beautiful daughter whom we both adore and more love than I could have ever asked for. I love him with all my heart and know that the next 8 will be even more adventurous.

In an effort not to disappoint anyone I am trying to get this up on time. This week I am going to have two features... I am in LOVE with them both!

Highs and Lows #20 & 21

Hello... did you miss me? Can someone please let me know when there are 24 hours more in the day?

Lows
1) Laci has two cavities... boo.. they are in her back molars. The dentist said that he wasn't surprised when he saw how deep her ridges in her teeth were. I am just so lucky that Jake is going to take her to the dentist to get them filled. I think I would cry and it would scare her more. Jake said the location was really nice and that they were awesome with her, but still I hate to hear that her teeth have cavities. So boo... major boo...
2) I think I managed to pull a muscle while walking briskly to my car... at least it is feeling better after some stretching, but come on... REALLY...
3) I miss alcohol, cupcakes, bread, fried foods, and you name any other tasty thing to insert in here... I am on a diet that calls for none of the good stuff.
4) I am getting really tired of doing my Thursday linky party. I really am thinking about calling it quit around the 75th one... that is three more weeks. We shall see.
5) I have been so slammed with work I haven't been able to craft or blog. Luckily Jake got the Star Wars thing on Blue Ray and has been watching those... so while he watches that silly yucky nevil movie series I craft.

Highs
1) I have an uhmazing friend and blogging buddy Ashley over at Cute as a Fox who is helping me do some presents for the IBK's. They will either get them in their Christmas gift basket or at the end of the season gift basket.... still deciding. You can't tell me that Laci's didn't turn out amazing though. I LOVE IT and am so thankful for knowing such a wonderful person!

2) The gift committee for the Itty Bitty Kitties has gotten together and we have decided on the 13 gifts that we will be giving to the girls. $100 = 13 gifts... uhm... I will die now if that is ok with you!?! I am so excited to start working on some of these things!
3) Started a diet on 9/11/11, as of this morning I am down 6.4 pounds... don't ask me about inches or working out... I am not measuring and not working out. I want to work out, but short of waking up at 4:30 or staying up past my bed time I have to figure something out. At least the diet is working and I am back in the 130's which is definitely a happier place for me, now if only I could get this flab into fab I would be even better. Oh well the Mona Lisa wasn't painted over night right? So me and South Beach Phase 1 are going to ride this wave down into the 120's... haven't seen 129 since I got pregnant with Laci over 5 years ago... so fairwell to the sweets, fairwell to bread and pasta, fairwell to all the fried yummy goodness. I won't know what you taste like again for a while. But on the upside maybe by the time I am done with losing weight and then working out to tone it all up I will be able to fit in my jeans from before I had Laci. Talk about being pumped for that day to happen!
4) Bought a new dishwasher because ours blows chunky monkies! It came with the house and is louder than a freight train... ok, so not so bad, but not good. Plus it doesn't clean the dishes unless it is on pots and pan mode. What the heck does that mean for the pots and pans then? Anyways, it was only 3.5 years old, but that thing had to GO! We will be getting our new one in less than 3 weeks and it will be a 46 decibel level one. Pretty much you will have to look at it to see if it is running... Boo Yah!
5) We got some more of the light switch things that lets Laci turn on lights her self. So she can officially turn on the downstairs bathroom, her bathroom upstairs, her room light, her closet light and as soon as we switch some wires the play room light. I am lazy and totally stoked about not having to go up and down the stairs because it is getting dark outside and she wants the light on. On an even better note, she now sleeps with the bathroom light of since she can turn it on by herself. Laziness at it's finest and I am in LOVE!
6) Made some crock-pot chicken this past Sunday that was Uh-Mazing. Frozen Chicken, Chicken Broth, and some packets of Italian Dressing... tender, juicy and it lasted for 4 days worth of lunches and dinners. SCORE!
7) I LOVE COFFEE... nuff said... Vanilla is bombtastic...
8) I think I am getting the boot award this year for our yearly meeting in 3 weeks which means I have busted my rear this year and kicked some major a$$. I have over $7,000 in loss to the company I work at accounted for in just 3.5 months of interviews. Let me say first that this isn't my primary or even secondary job, and also in case count % I am 1/2 way in the pack and as for $ percentage based on how long each person has been interviewing this past year I am 3rd... Did I tell you we have 18 people not including me in what I am doing on the side. Yeah... I rock... I am just going to pat myself on the back. So I hope I get the boot award. It was hinted that I would be.
9) I am so incredibly proud of my husband. He is doing the diet with me and as of yesterday was down over 10 lbs. It is making it so much easier that he is doing this with me, because then I am not tempted to cheat on the diet. He has his goal and I have mine. Working together to stay on the diet when we are out has helped as well. Plus we have easily saved over $200 since we aren't eating out. We were eating out like twice a week before. We haven't gone out but once and with the will power we both had we managed to stay on the diet and not drink along with our friends. That was tough at first, but I think it will get easier.
10) The skies in the morning have been nothing short of morning glory at it's finest. I love it and wish I could take pictures instead of being in the car driving.

It has been a wonderful two weeks for the most part!

I think I am going to fire myself... I am seriously contemplating discontinuing ISCCT after the 75th week. Although I love to see your creations, A. it didn't catch on like I wanted it to... I have tried for over a year and a half, so no one could say I gave up early... and B. I apparently suck at putting up features. So although they are late here are the three features from last week!

First up we have an uh-mazing T-Shirt Skirt from Brassy Apple. I love this thing and it looks pretty simple to make... what do you think?

Second we have some delicious looking cupcakes in a jar... I am on a diet and these are NOT on my list of foods I can have... so I will sit here and stare at the screen and wish that I were in Laura Thoughts kitchen sharing one.

Last we have an awesome idea from Originate and Renovate... she found a cross stitch iPhone cover. I think I am going to have to get this for my BFF for Christmas. It is pretty cool!

I have missed you...

Why is it that when you want to be crafty or do things that life just gets in the way?

My craft room misses me. I am longing for some crafty time... but alas I will take what I can get. I did get the chance to make an embroidered diaper wipe holder (pictured with the adorable little baby below who is only like a week old... isn't it cute how it is bigger than she is... hehehe) that is zebra print on the outside and hot pink with light pink flowers on the inside. Is it funny that I use my own tutorial even though I have made over a dozen of these... ha.

I LOVED this diaper wipe holder and am jealous that I didn't have one this adorable when Laci was a baby. But, I am NOT having another one. Sorry if that offends anyone that I wanted to stop with one, but this way we can really provide for Laci now and when she gets bigger.

Anyways, I miss you. I want to have crafty time and will soon since I am the Itty Bitty Kitty Gift Chair Person. We have 11 different days of competition and I am hoping we can do a gift for each day... wouldn't that be cool? Anyways, Love & Hugs to everyone... I miss you and hope that life slows down soon so that I can make and post really cool things.

Also, does anyone know how to decorate clipboard cases? I mean like with acrylic paint pens or paint? What do you do and how?

Ok, so Ms. Allie over at What Allie's Making Now totally deserves an entire post to herself, but because I am ~~lazy~~ super busing lately and posting isn't as frequent I will just make her my first feature. This Back to School Girly Backpack is UH-MAZING! I totally wish I had 1/4 of her talent. I love it! You did a wonderful job! I just adore the ruffles and initials! So stinkin' cute!

Highs and Lows #20

Lows
1) Chipped my back right top tooth yesterday... suckage at it's finest!
2) Laci has been acting like a brat from ... well just pick any brat and that will do. This attitude is going to be gone before I am done with her.
3) I think I am allergic to the kind of chocolate that goes in a chocolate fountain. Our friends brought one over on Monday and I had to take my puffer twice and take benedryl last night. I think it is finally better... but it was weird!

Highs
1) Spent a marvelous day with Jen aka Ms. Life Crafts and Whatever... I <3 her and had the best time... can't I take every day off to go make cookies and other assorted treats? No... well boo!
2) Tia came over on Saturday and we worked on some stuff for her daughters girl scout troop to make shirts. I was very glad I could assist.
3) Got a diaper wipe holder finished on Sunday... and got it mailed out today... congrats to the new mommy and hope that you had a safe and happy delivery even though it was two weeks early. I will post pictures of this diaper wipe holder another day... I loved it not only for the pattern, but it was the first one that I personalized.
4) Went to Medieval Times on Sunday with my mom, Jake, Laci, and some other soccer friends with their son... spent WAY too much money, but Laci got to be the "Queen of Love and Beauty" if you don't know what that is... I will have to explain later.
5) Some friends and family came over on Monday and we had a great time playing Quelf... I love that game!

More that I could add, but I really need to get going... if I have a chance I will add more later!

Staci over at Just Sew Sassy has done some adorable doily canvas bag. It is super cute! I had seen one somewhere, but couldn't remember where, and this is just perfect for a teacher gift!

Next is this beautiful piece from Emily over at Naptime Creations. It is one of the most detailed tree skirts and is just stunning! It will look beautiful under your tree I am sure! Great job!

Shirts for Hannah and Connor

By BFF came over last weekend and we made some freezer paper shirts for her kiddos... needless to say Connor wore his shirt to school on Monday and everyone was asking him where he got it.

Here are the girl scout shirts we made for Hannah...

Her troop is going to make shirts. So these are samples and I think they turned out awesome!

Here is one of the shirts we were working on for Hannah and Connor. It didn't do exactly what I wanted it to do, so booo on that, but its still is neat and all my friend has to do is iron on the letter and sew them on.

Our favorite of the day were these... Hannah's a glitter eagle and Connor has just a silver eagle... I think they turned out awesome! They are super cute and the two shirts cost maybe $10 with all the materials... Much better than spending $30 per shirt at school for a total of $60.

Didn't they turn out awesome. Oh, and I now have my friend fully addicted to freezer paper stenciling like me! :o)

Highs and Lows #19

Lets see what I can remember...

Lows
1) Morning radio show just really got under my skin this morning. I listen to Cosmo Radio Sirus/XM 109. Normally they talk about fashion, hair, make-up, cosmo magazine, entertainment, etc. This morning they were judging one of the Kardashian girls for having a baby with someone out of marriage, wanting to have another baby and not wanting to get married. First, this Kardashian sister has enough money to raise any number of kids regardless of if they split up or stay together. Second, one of the two hosts has never been through divorce. Third, I don't want to think about my dad on my way into work. I don't want to think about him ever really. I will give the long ugly back story later, but for the hosts to talk about divorce/marriage/being together and having kids for the entire hour long drive into work was irritating and frankly made me want to cancel my Sirus/XM membership. They judge people and I am ok with that, because everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but the way they judge this wealthy woman who chooses not to get married and have kids is a little outraging. Yes the kids would be through trauma either way married or not, but they should not get married just because they have a kid together and want to have another one. For some it is a big step to buy a house, for some it is a big step to get married, for others it is children. So what if they do things in a different order. It isn't up to me to judge as long as I am not going to have to turn around and pay for the welfare of all of their kids. Ugh, just really started my morning off on a sour note.
2) Laci got sick last week, and had a fever this morning. Dude... REALLY!?! I don't have a bubble child, what is the deal? Sick 3 times in a month. GRRRR!
3) Because Laci was sick last week she missed yet another team practice, this makes 3 now. Can someone please tell me what magic pill I can give my kid so that she stops getting sick?!? I can't take this, I am going to be exchanging Christmas presents with the doctor at the rate we are going.

Highs
1) Got to do a CCTV install last night for work. I did great! I was just REALLY glad I came prepared! I had a 25' extension cord, had gotten a dust pan and broom (mini one), had gotten a folding tripod for the camera, a connector in case we had to tap into power, exacto knife (and practiced cutting a ceiling tile out), white play dough, sharpie marker, a flashlight, and a slew of other stuff for the just in case I needed it. The only thing I couldn't plan for was them not having a ladder. So the Director went and bought a 6' ladder and I was able to get the install done. I just hope the store next door doesn't give it away since they were open until we left the install.
2) Had a wonderful time with my BFF on Saturday when she came over and made freezer paper shirts on Saturday. I will show you those on another day.
3) Enjoyed the weekend with my snuggly munchkin since Jake left on Saturday to go to Houston.
4) Had a wonderful time and Hibachi on Friday night! Love the guy we had as the chef dude... his name was Ken and he rocked! Laci asked for more fire... he gave more fire. It was cool!
5) Laci loves her new class! Private Kindergarten is already shaping up to be awesome!

Anyways, it was still a great week despite her being sick, but I wish I could figure out what the dealio is. As for the radio station this morning... you still have me in a foul disposition, but I am sure that is nothing that coffee and chocolate can't fix. Hope everyone has a wonderful week!

Highs and Lows #17 & 18

So just like Jen skipped last week, I did too... it has been a blur. Let's see what I can remember.

Lows
1) Jen's daughter Ava was hospitalized the morning I was supposed to be making cookies with her for Ava's party. That was a big bummer... but on the upside Ava is doing wonderfully and the "play date" errrrr... I mean cooking session has been rescheduled for next week.
2) Laci has had a fever on and off for four days now, this has just been miserable for all parties involved... the worst was her puking on the carpet last night... yeah it was red puke. Uhm, gross! But, never the less, I cleaned Laci up, got her back in bed and then attacked as much of the carpet as I could. I mean it was 12:30 at night.
3) I am tired of watching Sponge Bob...
4) Knee was hurting REALLY bad for 4 days, at least on day 5 it did start to feel better.

Highs
1) Get to play soccer with the Finjas (the co-ed team that we played on indoors has another co-ed team)... only low... it's outdoors... I have never played outdoors. I am terrified.
2) I may possibly get to go out of town on a work trip next month. It would be a huge step. I will keep my fingers crossed.
3) Made the teacher gifts for Laci's new teachers, they turned out wonderful.
4) Working on another gift for them, I love the containers so far... they so far have cost me less than $3.00 for both of them.
5) Had a great night with some friends on Saturday night.
6) Oh, had a great time two Fridays ago with my BFF at karaoke.

Is this week over yet? Because at this rate it is never ending. I'll add more stuff as I think of it.

Pre-K Teacher Gifts

I may have to do these EVERY year they were so stinkin' easy and absolutely adorable! I found this idea for personalized teacher gifts over at The Rachel Berry Blog, and let me tell you Rachel is genius! I mean this is just a perfect gift for any teacher!

So, I went to Hobby Lobby with a 40% off coupon and found an acceptable container... I went back the next day and got another. Props to me for saving $12.00 so instead of costing $30 it only costed me $18. I am certain you can find some cheeper containers, but I was done being picky and wanted to find one to use and not have to go anywhere else.

I found some cute containers and used my cricut and SCAL software and bada bing, bada boom.... PERFECT GIFTS for Laci's teachers... you still have time to do these, its easy and a teacher would be a fool not to love something personalized! Ms. Heidi is Laci's teacher, but Ms. Kristen will be in there from 2:30 till I pick Laci up, so I didn't want to leave her out. Because I didn't want to fill the entire thing with pencils (I used 7 dozen in each already) and I didn't like them being sideways I put some gift basket shred in the back of them so the pencils would stand up. I LOVE THEM!

My only advice is to use windex before you apply something to glass, the first try it didn't want to stick till I cleaned it. Weird I know! What do you think?

Ack... where is time going lately... I seem to have less and less of it!

Anyways... features really quick!

Ok, so when I REALLY love something for some strange reason I say it kind of like LHOVE... wierd I know.. but I LHOVE these stainless steal water bottles that my buddy Ashley over at Cute as a Fox did for her kiddos. They are beautiful, functional and a wonderful gift for people!

Ms. Megan over at Brassy Apple made me fall in LHOVE with this adorable teardrop shirt! I want to make one so much! I will be on the look out for a shirt I can do this to! What a wonderful job!

Last but not least Mommy over at Mommy Minded came up with a great idea so that her kiddo would know which classes to go to for the first couple weeks, she calls it a Schedule Bracelet. Great idea!

Jake and The Neverland Pirates Treasure Chest

So my child is addicted to this show... I mean shows go in waves, but like all shows she wants something to go along with it. This time she wanted the treasure chest and gold doubloons. You can't buy this, so I had to make it. Sounds easy right... I mean how hard could it be.

So this is the treasure chest that I needed to make:

So I started by buying a little wooden treasure chest from Michaels and some little coin sized circles. I took the treasure chest and taped off everything that needed to be hand painted red:

Next Laci and I painted the rest of the spots gold, it was after I started this that despite how much fun Laci was having I realized that spray paint on this portion would have been much faster and easier, but then I couldn't have had help from an adorable munchkin. After the paint had dried I took off the blue painters tape.

Although I forgot to take pictures of the red painted part you can see it and get the idea. Then I used my cricut or hand cut the gold vinyl to put on the treasure chest:

Then I painted the "coins" and after they were dry I put a gold vinyl palm tree on them. Jake's have (2) palm trees, but I think I did pretty good getting one on these:

I wish I had painted the inside of the treasure chest gold, and I still might, I just need to pull it back out and do so:

Overall, even though it is a mini version of a real treasure chest, I think we did pretty good, what do you think?

So sorry I haven't posted in a while. I have been REALLY busy and although I have a backlog of things I want to share with you... sometimes life gets in the way.

It's Stinkin' Cute Craft Thursday #67

So sorry I am late with the feature... I mean it truly is the story of my life. I have some awesome projects that I want to share with you I just haven't had time.

This week there were quite a few awesome projects, but one that really stood out because of it being so timely was this one from Artsy VaVa... it is a canvas that is made to look like a piece of Notebook Paper. If you are sending a kiddo off to college and having a party this would be a great thing to make for them to hang in their room.

Anyways, I am only doing one feature this week becuase of lack of time, and because I really want to share with you all at least one of the projects I have worked on in this past week.

Highs & Lows #16

I can't really remember where the previous week ended and where this current week should start... (hence why it is good for me to make a list.. I keep forgetting to make said list).

Lows
1) Laci started feeling bad 30 minutes before IBK practice on Sunday... needless to say she only made it 30 minutes and then we had to leave. Unfortunately this was part of cheer camp and she ended up missing (2) days of the choreography. On the upside she is feeling better and did make the last day of camp.
2) Found out that all the hard work and samples that I made for the IBK team will not be approved because of the logo on the stuff. I was given the option to buy the stuff from the gym, but the thing is, the towel that I can make for $8 because it just involves a lot of labor would then be like $45 because I would be buying it from them. It just stinks that I spent a ton of hard work and time and they didn't even get looked at. I was major bummed for a couple days. Now I am in a better frame of mind and ready to change the logo to a generic megaphone or something else. Still though I wish it would have been ok to use that logo. The stuff would have been so cute!
3) Totally jacked up some certificates at work... lets just say (2) days of heart ache. It was no bueno!

Highs
1) My sister threw an awesome surprise party for my BIL's 30th Birthday. He was surprised, it was fun, and everyone had a good time!
2) Had a <3 to <3 with my boss yesterday about where he sees me going. Basically in re-arranged words the Director (not my boss) told me that I was invaluable in my current position and that my boss wouldn't want me to go anywhere any time soon. He also said that because I was a female with a young child and hadn't traveled for work before that I wouldn't be considered for the open position... I know you are all thinking the same thing I did... ok, maybe some of you anyways. I am not the suing kind, but it screams lawsuit. Anyways, after the <3 to <3 with my boss I felt better about the situation. I mean yes I have gotten a promotion in the last year, but with that said I am still doing the exact same thing as before + a couple other things. So I told him that I wanted to get more field experience and that I wanted to go further than where I am right now. He point blank said he knew that and I had made that perfectly clear multiple times (in a good way - not annoyed), and that just because I am invaluable in my current position doesn't mean that I couldn't be a great asset in another position because of my wide range skill set. Ultimately he told me I was a year too early for the open position, I agreed because I don't have the field experience. But at the end of the conversation he knew that just because I was a mother with a small child that my career ambitions are still there. Anyways, I felt better about me staying where I am right now. I just don't want to start over at another company, I really like who I work for and what I do. Ok... time to shut up on this topic.
3) Almost done with more gifts for my sister to give out. They are REALLY cute this time because of the fabric she used!
4) My sewing machine and I finally agreed that using sew in velcro instead of sticky velcro was better for the health of the machine and me. We had a fight, we made up... it's all good now.
5) Got in the choker part of the necklaces for the magnetic bottle cap necklaces. They are perfect. I ordered them on etsy, if anyone is interested in the particular seller let me know and I'll post it.
6) Can't wait until Friday when I get to go ~~bother~~ spend a day with Jennifer (Mrs. Life Crafts and Whatever) to make cookies for her daughter Ava's birthday party... I am excited... I am pretty sure she is too! I can't wait, will be fun! On that note... Happy Birthday Ava! You are a cutie and I look forward to helping celebrate your 1st Birthday!
7) Laci asked me to make the treasure chest from Jake and the Neverland pirates and the gold doubloons (sp) that Jake, Izzy and Cubby get when they complete a task. So we got the stuff and made it together. I did most of the work, but Laci helped... I will post about it later because it is AWESOME!!!

I totally know there is some other stuff in there and I am just being forgetful. Anyways, hope you have a great day!

Ok, so with a couple people out today I find myself busier than normal, yet still in the funky funk I was in earlier. Anyways, well I did decide on two features. It was tough because there are A LOT that I want to feature.

First up is such a cute quick thing to do... Alicia over at Little Sprinkles of Fun shows us how she cut up some swim noodles to make some sorting pieces or pieces she could string into patterns. What a great idea if you have a little one learning to sort or for patterns!

Second is an awesome tutorial for wire wrap rings... I dare you to say that three times fast without getting tounge tied. :o) Anyways, Rena over at Making Jewelry Now shows you how to make these cute little pieces and at such a steal of a cost!

Highs & Lows #15

Lows
1) My body feels like I ran a half marathon, and all I did was craft all weekend... who said crafting wasn't hard work?
2) Jake was out of town and Laci had another sleep walking episode. This was the second... lets hope there isn't a third.
3) Found a sack of potatoes in my pantry that ... ugh... you get the point. After some bleach clean up I felt much better.

Highs
1) Got to spend almost 10 hours with my BFF on Saturday... LOVE HER TO DEATH! We sewed and crafted and had a wonderful time!
2) Got not one, not two, not three or four, but 5 samples done of the gifts for the IBK team. Each girl gives $100 at the beginning of the year for gifts they get throughout the year. Needless to say I am stoked about some of the things we are doing and can't wait to get them approved. I will be showing them after they get approved so that I don't get yelled at for using the logo out of turn.
3) Laci and I had a great weekend dispite Jake being out of town Saturday-Sunday. She was SOOO good!
4) On Friday when we pulled up to the house she starts singing, "Daddy's Home, Daddy's Home, Daddy's Home, Daddy's Home, Daddy's Old, Daddy's Old, Daddy's Old, Daddy's Old..." I was ROFL!
5) Got another case at work wrapped up solid tight... gtg. It was GREAT!
6) Oh, made a huge chunk payment on the CC... by next month we should have it paid off. Doing the happy dance! Then each month we should be able to pay it off each month. Have I told you that I can't wait to get Laci in school so that we don't have daycare payments? How about the cars getting paid off. I mean we are talking boo-koo bucks when those payments stop, but I know that as soon as mine is paid off it will need a lot of work. It will be 4 in November and I already have 90,000 miles on her. Eh, that's what I get for working about an hour from where I live. Anyways... way off subject. Yeah for paying stuff off!
7) My hubby is just as sweet as can be. Nuff said!
8) Got Laci some new boots, she loves them and is as cute as a button... don't you think so...

Ok, so as my girly girl pointed out... maybe I was a little tipsy... but I was really tired too. Hope that I get sleep one of these days, because last night wasn't good either. I think it is just how hot it is lately. Even though we have it set at 75 it just isn't cold enough, which is wierd since I am always cold. Anyways, feature time...

I LOVE these pinwheels by Ashley my girly girl over at Cute as a Fox! I most likely will be doing them for Laci's Wonka party next year!

Ms. Lindsay over at Diary of a Crafty Lady made some super cute camera strap covers. My hubby would probably shoot me if I did one like that, but I think I could get him to support a Cheer Athletics style one that is blue black and white... I may have to try soon, because they are really nice!

I am about to start my own Halloween quilt so I was excited to get not one but two super cute quilts linked up this week.

First one is Grace's quilt by PA Country Crafts... it has pinwheels and is just adorable! I love the colors. Lindsay you did a wonderful job!

Next is this beautiful Modern Chic Wedding Quilt from Just Sew Sassy. Staci you must post a tutorial on how you did this. It is just simply beautiful!

Halloween Fabrics for a Quilt

What do you think of the fabrics I picked out to make a Halloween quilt?

I love them all and can't wait to start cutting and putting this together. I will have to upload a picture of the design I am looking to do. It is REALLY simple, but I think it will be perfect for these fabrics!

Crackle Paint Name Board

I am so excited to share this with you... so when Jake was out of town two weeks ago I wanted a craft project to keep me occupied. I knew exactly what I wanted to do... So I grabbed a board I had found, went to Lowes and grabbed soem Valspar Weathered Crackle Paint, the two colors I wanted, and a top coat... then went home and got to work. The process is explained here. Basically though you have to use flat paint, or it won't work.

So once I got the black dried (this was my base coat), then I put on the Weathered Crackle Paint (Middle), then once that was dried I put the white on-top... it is like magic as it starts working before you can start painting your surface, so work quick!

After the board part was done and the top coat applied it looked like this...

Then I used my SCAL program and cut vinyl out of my last name in all caps, est. 2003, and some scrolls to put on the sides. I LOVE how this turned out!

I know the picture is blurry... sorry, the upload for this one picture was blurry and I didn't have a chance to take another one.

So what do you think? I personally think it is a keeper, and am REALLY thinking about doing this as gifts for people for Christmas this year. The cool thing is that if I make them now I can practically do it for free because I already have the paint and vinyl... just need wood. :o) It was so much fun to see the end result.

Highs & Lows #14

I am starting with the lows this week because although there were not a ton of them they were just bad this week, and want nothing more than to end on a high note.

Lows
1) Body started acting funny... not sure if it was because of my new diet, but regardless I went to the doctor for that and also talked to him about something else... he tells me that basically he can try and fix one thing, that the other he will give me a medication for, but chances are it won't work... and basically I left there feeling kind of bummed. I mean we go to the doctor to get fixed, not for them to tell us they can't do anything.
2) Go get medication and take it... 6 days later have the worst hives rash blotchy spots all over my body (sans arms and face thank the lord).... took Benedryl and luckily the spots went away. Guess I won't be taking that medication any more.
3) Getting out of the car I asked Jake if he had gotten Laci's cheer bag since my iPad was in it. He went to go get it out of his trunk and my iPad fell out of the bag, popped out of the case and on to the drive way. Screen = BUSTED... I was already feeling like a mac truck hit me so I just started bawling... I mean my luck this week was in the negatives and that was a lot of money we didn't need to go spend to replace it.
4) Learned I shouldn't post when I am sick or upset... or both, I felt bad about only posting lows and immediatly took the post down.

Highs
1) Friday at work after being in meetings for 2 days I got to play around with our new software. Needless to say I figured out how the best way to manipulate the report it gave me to do a job in under 10 minutes. It was like the angels were singing and I was doing the happy dance... No really I was doing the happy dance.
2) I scored at our soccer game on Friday night. Uhm... dude... it was a total fluke, but I scored!!! Woo HOO! It has been years since I scored... But it has also been years since I played too, so you know I am getting back into the swing of things. Wish my knee would let me kick the ball as hard as my other knee though. Eh, I'll take the small victory.
3) Jake immediatly scheduled an appointment at the Genius bar with Apple not an hour after the iPad busted... They took some information and swapped it out for FREE... I couldn't believe it. I was so happy! I tried to do a back up of mine before he took it, and when I did the restore from backup on the new one it didn't work right. So I have to figure out where I had everything again and buy a new case, but it is better than the alternative of paying $850 for a new one.
4) My blogging buddy Jen stalks her google reader and checked on me even though I had deleted the post about being upset. Thanks Jen... I appreciated you checking on me.
5) Right after Jake and Laci left for the Apple store I fell asleep till about 7:30, got up for an hour and a half and then went back to sleep... I am feeling much better this morning... just wish that I could take the one medication that is giving me issues.. but I will take feeling better over the alternative.
6) Bought an Eye-Fi card this weekend. It is the best invention on the planet. I don't have to do anything but turn my camera on and it will upload the photos to my flickr account and to my computer. I LOVE this thing and am so extreemly happy to have it! Now I have no reason to be lazy on posting because all I have to do is take a picture of something and leave the camera on in the house and the pictures will upload. Awesomeness at it's finest!
7) Finished my crackle project! I can't wait to share it with you tomorrow. I LOVE it so much!

I have tons to do, so if I remember anything later I will add it.

Dragon Scroll from Kung Fu Panda

So Saturday I picked Laci up from spending the night at her Grammy's house and the entire way home she kept saying she wanted to buy a Dragon Screw... At first I was like WHAT?!?!? Then I finally realized when she was talking about when she was referring to the panda and tigress.

I looked up on my phone if you could buy a toy one and no go... We "looked" in the three stores we went in to see if they had one, but as I already knew they wouldn't so we "looked around" anyways.

After the second stop I thought about it for a second and said... Laci, let's make one. At first she insisted that she wanted to buy one, but quickly gave up on that since she finally was understanding it wasn't something you could buy.

So for those of you asking... what is a dragon scroll... here is a picture of the one in Kung Fu Panda:

So I got the supplies together, put in a movie, and Laci and I made her a Dragon Scroll, and the entire time worked on how to say Scroll instead of Screw. It is now coming out Scrow... we are getting there. I mean she can say Sk-roll, but putting it together is no bueno.

I started with the outside figuring that would be the hardest to figure out, grabbed a paper towel roll, construction paper, an empty spool of ribbon (yes I have some for random projects like these... see they come in handy), hot glue gun, & yellow paint.

Covered the paper towel roll in red construction paper, took apart the spool and covered each side with green and cut around them...

Shame on me for not getting a picture of it, but I took some cardboard and hot glued it down in an X the right size of the hole so that it would fit perfectly. One side was a little loose, so I fixed it permanently to the roll... (oddly enough, 5 days later, the loose piece is missing - who would have guessed - Laci said It's OK you can make another one <-- OH I CAN CAN I? :o) )

Then the scroll container was put together, but wait, it needed paint to match, so Laci painted some, not all, of the outside in yellow to mimic the one in the movie (hard to see in the picture, but there is yellow paint on there).

Now that the hard part is done... on to the easy part:

Laci started by painting the green dowel rods (like the movie), then I cut the fabric to fit the rods (by the way, make sure to cut down your dowel rods so that they will fit in the paper towel holder, I think I had to cut mine down 3 inches or so, but just eyeball it) then let Laci paint the back of the scroll with yellow accents like the one in the movie. Once she was done she wanted Laci, Mom, Dad, & Kami (our Dog) written on there, so I did that part.

Unfortunatly, er um... I mean, in all accuracy Laci wanted to have the middle part shiny to match the blank part of the scroll. Looking through my fabric stash I found a bright yellow and was internally praying that this would please her... it did.. So I cut that to match my red piece, once the red was dry glued wrong sides together and then hot glued them to the dowels.... Volla... Amazing Dragon Scroll all for the price of FREE!

And to show you how fearless my Tigress is, here she is at cheerleading not 45 minutes later...

So what do you think? How did I do? I think I did pretty good. I mean it was free and looks like a scroll. What more could the kid want... Oh wait... to play with the thing with me for hours on end the rest of the day. I love her, but sometimes my life doesn't want to revolve around Kung Fu Panda. Anyways, it was fun to make with her. It was really our first larger crafting project together that kept her attention.

Mickey Wreath Question

I got a question from a reader on my Mickey Party Wreath I made off of the Mickey Party Planning - Take 4 post.

Amanda left me the following questions and comments "I would like to see a picture of the back of the wreath as you mentioned in the post. Did you only tie the strips on to one of the rings? I think that is what you meant at the bottom but I want to make sure because your wreath looks much fuller than I would think one full ring would look? This is adorable and I would love to make one of these. Thanks for sharing."

Let me start off my saying, no Amanda, thank you for your question. I love comments and when people have questions love to answer them.

Highs and Lows #13

Blah... really that's how I feel, but I want to get this out.

Highs

1) Laci's team got in their cute outfits for practice.... She didn't want to take the sports top and hot pants off. They are so cute on her.... Must post a picture of her soon in these, it is just jaw dropping adorable!
2) Got some reprieve when we went over to a neighbors house and Laci played with their kiddos, then they came back to our house and played a little bit. It was awesome because there was no fighting at all and they were perfect little angels. I got to have some sanity for a little bit. It was nice.
3) Family came over and hung out on Sunday night, we watched my sisters wedding video and then watched mine. I didn't realize just how dark the room was where we had our reception, but overall I love the video.
4) 12 days and I am down 7.3 pounds... I must admit, although I despise diets I am doing great. No soda and no carbs has been a tough pill to swallow, but I am getting used to it. Now if I could just go to the gym a couple more times a week I would be down so much more.
5) Laci started working on her front walkover. Awesometastic!
6) Finally catching up with my work stuff from everyone being on vacation.
7) We got Laci all signed up for Private Kinder starting mid-to end next month. YEAH!!!
8) Started working on a project that I have been wanting to do with Crackle paint. It is awesome! I ordered the vinyl to cut that will go on top of it. I am super psyched about it and can't wait to show everyone when I am done.
9) So totally should be #1, but I am not about to re-number all these suckers... so Laci and I were on the way home from having lunch with my mom on Saturday... she kept saying, I want a Dragon Scroll (well it really sounded like Screw or Scrow) I told her OVER AND OVER AND OVER again that it wasn't something we could buy. She insisted that we look for it in Home Depot, Lowes and Macy's... finally I said to Laci, "Why don't we just make one?" at first she was like... no I want to buy one, I finally convinced her we could make one... It turned out so adorable. I have to post a how to on this one too. It was easy and she had so much fun making it... only downside was that she didn't want to stop playing with it after we made it. I finally was like... Mommy doesn't want to be a super hero or a dragon warrior right now, can Mommy rest. She was so cute that she loved it so much. I give that a double tick in the Mommy column that (1) I didn't buy anything to make this and it was FREE using the supplies I already had & (2) That she loved it and was still playing with it the next day... again... and it was FREE!
10) Yesterday on the way to cheer I had 25 minutes to get there and had to stop at the bank to pull out cash. The lady in the silver convertible in front of me wouldn't take the left crossing traffic.... (Insert me cursing under my breath here) and yelling for her to go. Finally on the 5th or 6th time she could have gone she went, a couple seconds later I was able to go. Still peeved about the situation I said, "Someone should teach her how to use the gas peddle and put her foot to the medal". Laci said, "Yeah, you should call the police and tell them they need to teach her." I said, I don't think they would do that hunny... she then asked who the person was, I said I didn't know, she asked again and I said "Someone who can't drive very well!" Laci then said "Was it Grammy?" I DIED LAUGHING!!! I immediately called and told my sister who made me repeat it to her hubby since it was so stinkin funny... all the while Laci is in the back seat crying out "Nooooo, DOn't tell Grammy..." I told her I wouldn't, but come on... this was the funniest thing she had said all week and it was AWESOME! I think from now on I am going to write one funny thing Laci says each week, because no matter how mad I am some days she really always seems to turn the situation around and makes me laugh. The darn things kids say! LOVE IT!

Lows
1) Jake was out of town from Thursday and isn't returning until today (Monday). I love my child, but I am exhausted from the weekend.
2) Fought with my iMac over the HUP program that I thought would be great... instead I didn't get the one program I wanted and my have to buy the iStudioPublisher for Mac. Whatevs. It ticked me off, but I am over it since I have since found an alternative solution. Just a little miffed that said alternative solution costs $70 bucks. Boo!
3) CRAFT FAIL - I had a total craft fail when I thought I had JACKED up my printer... I was trying to do a surprise gift for someone and totally had a flub.... My printer was eating the thing, so that did not go well. I will try another couple options, but I really want to do this surprise gift for them... Can't post my craft fail until it is given because I don't want to ruin the surprise...

Eh, aside from having a headache and I am doing ok. I wish I had some guidance on another issue I am currently dealing with, but I figure it is something I am going to have to get used to.

It's Stinkin' Cute Craft Thursday #63

It has been one of the best weeks here on It's Sew Stinkin' Cute! I have had almost 700 page views in one day because of my tutorial! I will totally be trying to make more tutorials or printable things because I love getting more awesome readers like you! Hope that you have had a wonderful week already! Here goes the features...

Southern Scraps linked up some really neat t-shirt scarfs! I love them and think they are great for summer! Hum, the neat things you can do with t-shirts! Love it!

Instead of paying $10-$20 bucks at the store for baby closet dividers, Heard it from the Hills made her own. I love them, and although I would probably print off the sizes on a computer because I hate my handwriting, I love them and they turned out so stinkin cute! Great job!

One of my favorite things I have ever seen is an awesome little stand for selling baked goods from my great friend Ashley over at Cute as a Fox! I love it and can't wait to read about all of the rice krispie treats her and the team she is on came up with!

Maybe it is the cheerleader in me, but I love the look of these pom pom products that I talked about in yesterday's post. So I went home and got to work.

Hair bow for Laci (although with my hair pulled up in a loose ponytail it looked really cute on the side):

Possible necklace for me - I need your opinion and advise, is it too big for me? Pardon the no makeup look going on... I like it, but think it might be too big, either that or I am just not used to wearing things that big.

Anyways, it was nice to be crafty last night, but as for the necklace I wish I could muster up the confidence to wear it. I put it on this morning with a black an white outfit and it looks better than with the picture above... I don't know, need your advise!

Highs & Lows #12

Dude... it's been a pretty great week!

Highs
1) How did I forget to tell you last week about my new found drink that I LOVE!!! Burnetts Whipped Cream Vodka and Cranberry Juice… I dislike cranberry juice, and this drink is the bombtastic! I <3 it and think you should give it a try.
2) I cleaned my craft room (the closet doesn’t count). If you follow me on face book you can go back and see the picture.
3) After 4 long years Laci is choosing me to sit next to, me to play with, me to cuddle with. It is so sweet, so funny and so loveable!
4) So funny it was turned from a high to a low… We were at a restaurant and Laci went to the bathroom before we left, she rode in my sister’s car. Not 5 minutes later she said she needed to go to the bathroom, both cars pull over to the gas station, I get Laci out and we walk in. So this lady with a son about the same age as Laci was right in front of us. They go in the girls bathroom (single bathroom)… Laci starts doing the dance and says “I really have to poop”. So we go in the men’s bathroom (gross on so many levels), seat is up, I grab toilet paper, put the seat down, throw them away, grab more, get them wet in the discussing sink (have they not heard of bleach I think something was living in that sink), wipe the seat, throw those away, grab more paper towels, dry off the seat, lift Laci up and tell her not to touch anything…. She is sitting there and doesn’t go… I am like GOOOOOO… we are in a smelly boys bathroom, you said you have to go, GO! She sits there for a minute, looks up at me with the most innocent face and says, “My bottom, it’s not going to poop.” I am still angry and don’t crack, I get her off, wash her hands, go out put her in my sisters car, get in my mom’s car, and my mom said… “she didn’t go did she”. I did a small recap and then told her what Laci said. She died laughing ½ way home we were still laughing about it. I mean I couldn’t laugh at Laci when she said it because I was so mad at her for putting me in that situation, but that was so incredibly funny. I am still laughing about it.
5) I got a 72 year old cedar hope chest from my grandmother. It is beautiful, 4 feet long, huge and heavy. Not really sure where it will go, but it is just beautiful!
6) I got a 27” iMac. Don’t ask me how to work it, I am clueless. Don’t ask me what I plan on doing with it, I need to figure out how to work it first. I think it is going to take me a while to get used to. But it is beautiful! Lows 1)Co-worker out all week last week and will be back Wednesday, 7/13. I am exhausted from answering so many phone calls and doing other stuff. Can’t really think of anything else on the lows, so I think overall the week was a major success! Hope you are having a wonderful week!

Last week I think on Friday I ran across an adorable set of pens that had a cute little flower on top of them made of fabric and the pens were wrapped in fabric too.

The person was doing them for her friend who is a thirty-one gift consultant to give as gifts. The pens were pink, black and white. I loved them and wanted to make some. Silly me I forgot to pin it to pinterest. So instead have searched for over 3 hours looking for it again and can't find it.

Anyways, the person that made the pens linked to the tutorial for the flower that someone had made to put on a headband. She had altered the tut to make the pens. Anyways, I want to make them so bad and can't figure out for the life of me where I saw either thing.

HELP!!! If you know where I can find this I would really appreciate it!

Making Cookies with a Blogging Buddy

2nd attempt at this post... if blogger deletes this again I'll scream... :o)

As I said in my #1 on Highs from earlier this week, I got to make cookies with an awesome chick who is none other than Jen over at Life, Crafts & Whatever. She had asked me if I could show her how to make Flood Cookies.

Uhm, duh who wouldn't want to spend time with such an awesome blogger... I mean really she had to ask?

So we decided to do it at her house because of how long flood cookies take to dry. Because we were doing this at her house and I wanted to make sure she had everything we would need, I asked her about some supplies. So... here is how our e-mails went...

Me: "Do you have a kitchen aid?"

Jen: "I don't have a kitchen aid, is that a blender thingy?"

Me: "I will bring my kitchen aid to make it go a little faster this time, its a beast, but worth bringing."

Me: "You have at least (2) cookie sheets and a cooling rack right?"

Jen: "I have cookie sheets. I can't promise that they aren't all rusty, but that's what tin foil is for, right? And what's a cooling rack? Can i just use a grate out of the oven? Can you tell I haven't done this before?" <--- no you don't say

I had to go to the cake store before I went over there, so Friday night I stopped by to grab some specific gel food colors and and picked Jen up her own cooling rack...

So the morning of going over there I get out everything to take:
- Kitchen Aid
- Cookie Decorating Box(yes I have a large clear box that has all the cookie decorating goods in it... don't judge)
- Sifter for the Powdered Sugar... I knew Jen wouldn't have one if she didn't know what a cooling rack was she would think it was another strange gadget.
- Big ole rolling pin
- Cooling rack I bought for Jen, so she now knows what this is and how to use it
- Two cookie sheets
- Other odds and ends

So my bad on actually teaching her how to make the cookies, I just was putting in the ingredients and following the directions, it wasn't until later that she said... you kind of forgot to show me how to make these (OOPS! - it was my invitation to come back and help her again I guess <-- I got off on August 12th - woohoo!!! so I will be over at Jen's house making cookies that day)... it wasn't until we started cutting out the cookies that Jen actually got her hands dirty...

Then after they were done being baked we started decorating.

Now I am sure you are asking yourself where the pictures of my cookies are... mine didn't deserve photos taken of them. I think her Jake (both of our awesome hubbys are named Jake) said something like it looked like "I shot my cookie a couple times" when I was trying my wet on wet technique the for the first time. Needless to say, Jen's were much prettier and I told her that in August when we do this again for Ava's party that I would bake them and outline them and she could decorate them.

Before I left for the day we were able to get this adorable picture of the two of us... again, Jen is the tan, skinny and pretty one and I am the pasty white one showing off my 4th of July spirit.

I had so much fun and can't wait to do this again on August 12th.

It's Stinkin' Cute Craft Thursday #62

If you don't check It's Sew Stinkin' Cute on a daily basis... well shame you then... no, just kidding... but seriously though, this week I posted about my awesome diaper wipe holer tutorial on Tuesday this week it even has a pattern (now go take a look... I'll wait for you to go see).

There really were some amazing choices this week that I really couldn’t help myself on going overboard on the features.

First things first, I will be featuring my friend Jen who without her I would not have been able to make Laci’s IBK bling shirt. Jen is over at Life Crafts and Whatever and is super awesomesauce! She used her machine to cut this adorable princess template and made an awesome rhinestone princess shirt. I <3 it!!!

Second over at Little Sprinkles of Fun Alicia shows us this adorable Ruffled Pinafore (don’t ask me what it means, I am assuming it is a fancy name for super stinkin’ cute outfit). Did you use a pattern because this thing rocks!

Ashley over at Simply Designing linked up not one but two tasty looking treats, first she linked up these cute as a button mini cupcake push pops… I want those containers so much!!!

Second she linked up some very pretty 4th of July Cake Pops. They turned out beautiful and I am sure were incredibly tasty!

Last but not least is this AMAZING stroller makeover by Laura at Laura’s Thoughts. I have to admit, I would have given up and just bought another one. I’m impatient like that sometimes… this would have been one of those times.

Highs and Lows #11

This is all that remains from that post.... GRRR!
"Ok, so this is going be pretty short because I forgot to make notes last week and my memory is failing me at 10pm on a school night (figuratively speaking).Highs1) I got to make cookies with one of the coolest chicks ever! Jen over at Life Crafts and Whatever asked me to show her how to make cookies with royal icing...."

Lets see what I can remember... I made cookies with Jen over at LC&W, spent a lot of time with family. Finished a baby gifts for my sister to give to someone I don't know. Laci got bit by (1) fire ant and we had to take her to the doctor and get medication... $50 for one ant bite. Things could always be worse though and she could be allergic to something like peanut butter. Uhm, other than that, My memory blows and I don't remember a thing. That's why I like doing this so I can remember. Eh, oh well!

Diaper Wipe Holder Tutorial

Thanks to a special lady who has nudged me to get this done (you know who you are), I present to you the tutorial for my diaper wipe holders that are a staple gift I give as gifts for soon to be moms.

So whether you are here because you have been long awaiting this tutorial, or are searching for the perfect handmade baby gift I can help you out. Only thing required is a basic sewing machine in addition to the materials for the diaper wipe holder.

This is what you will be making…

Materials Needed:
(2) Different Kinds of Fabric for the D/W holder
Matching Thread
Velcro
Medium Weight Fusible Stabilizer

First things first, go here and download my awesome pattern. Cut it out and glue or tape it together. Please note that the straight lines are the outside edge, the dotted lines can be cut more free hand not paying as close attention. I would suggest if you want to keep the pattern then to transfer it to a more permanent solution. I did mine on a medium fusible weight piece that holds up to tracing, cutting around and doesn’t flop all over the place or rip.

When lining this up you will want to line up the corners, you will understand once you print it off and start piecing it together as they are well labeled. If anyone has questions please let me know so that I can clarify more.

Here is the pattern all cut out and taped together:

This is the normal piece I use for the pattern since I don't like paper, it rips, wrinkles, etc. this is the medium weight fusible stabilizer:

Here is where I marked a T on the top where the Velcro goes really either side could be the top, I just like being consistent since the pattern isn't exactly the same on both sides:

Now you will need to cut out your fabrics and medium weight fusible stabilizer. You will want your fabrics wrong side together when you cut them so that they line up perfectly when you are making your diaper wipe holder. Your fusible piece should be shiny side facing the wrong side of the fabric you want on the inside. If you are able to layer and cut out all three layers at the same time, do it if possible so that you get the exact same cut, if not, just pay close attention.

I use my rotary cutter for the outside edge and then some blunt edged quilting scissors for the corners to get a clean cut (note, I do not use pins on this stage, I walk around my table cutting using the rotary cutter and the guide then lay the plastic guide piece on top and pull the corners off the edge of the desk to use my blunt scissors on the corners. I don't like using pins because I can't use my rotary cutter guide if they are in. Does that make sense?

Once you have cut out your three pieces you will need to iron on the fusible piece to the back of the inside pattern cut piece. Once that is done you will need to sew on your Velcro piece. See picture for location, but it is between ¾ of an inch and an inch.

When you sew it on like this so that the sucker won’t come off (this is the back side for reference)….

Next you will pin your two pieces together. The more the better! So, you have pinned them together and are ready to start sewing this sucker up. You will need to sew a ¼ inch edge around it except where indicated in the picture. Below you will see where I refer to top and bottom. The top is where the Velcro is. In this picture you will see two arrows. This is the location you will want to leave open so that you can turn it inside out.

Here is where I left that spot open…

Next you will need to use those blunt nose scissors I was talking about to cut some of the corners. If you don’t know what kind I am talking about here is a close up…

They are sharp all the way to the edge and it is easy to use because they are spring loaded… bonus!

Examples of my cuts:

Next you will need to turn it inside out. Work slow and deliberate and it isn’t too bad to turn. I am getting good after doing a couple dozen of them. After turning it and making sure all the corners are now out and flipped properly you will need to go around the edge topstitching about ¼ of an inch all the way around the outside edge. When you are closing up the spot that you turned, don’t worry if you have to go closer to the edge on that part, it will be hidden when you make your envelope.

Before you pin the holder in place, iron the flaps the correct ways so that it stays in place easier. Left and right fold in and then the bottom folds up to hide the bottom of the left and right flaps.

Here you see where I pinned it in place. I usually use 3 pins to each side.

Now remember how we went 1/4 inch around it? Well you will then need to follow that line down the edge so that the holder is now stitched together. (did that make sense?) To do the right side you just go forward, it’s pretty easy, to do the left side you will need to go in reverse on your machine, unless you know something fancy about machines that I have failed to learn. This is one of the toughest parts because you are going into a corner, but you just work it and start flipping it as you are sewing down the line. At least it is pinned and you have a guide line to follow.

Then last but not least you take your flap with your Velcro and figure out where the other piece should sit on the bottom. Keep in mind that it is empty and that it will have quite a few things in there, I usually like to put it to where it will still catch the Velcro, but otherwise as high up as I can get it. You could always shove a couple diapers and a wipe case in there too if you have some to get an idea of the best spot to put the Velcro.

Closed and full your diaper wipe holder should look something like this…

Pick your Plum...

These suckers went so fast I wasn't able to share it with you, but I am super excited that I got (4) of these stamps, one for my sister, one for my mom, one for Jake and I and one for Laci.

I was thinking about getting one for my BFF and one for my in-laws, but my BFF keeps talking about moving and my in-laws are moving down here in a year. So maybe they will have another deal next year.

Anyways, I saw this site a while a go... not sure where, on someones blog I think, something about a giveaway perhaps? Anyways, I started to follow them and get their daily e-mail showcasing the different thing they are selling that day. This was the first one that I jumped on because of how perfect it was for gifts for the fam, plus I wanted one too.

So what I am telling you is that you should sign up for these e-mails so that you can get cool daily deals too!

It's Stinkin' Cute Craft Thursday #61

Ya'll make me so happy! Really you do! I go from wondering if I should do this every week, to knowing that I should because of how many of ya'll take the time to link up and respond. I can't tell you how great this is!

My two features this week really caught my eye for different reasons...

First I have an awesome laundry bag from GeorgiaBE that I want to share. Look at the awesome pockets, and the denium is perfect for a boy. Now only if she would make a tutorial to share in the next oh... 14 years so I can make one for Laci when she goes to college. So girly... you have 14 years, take your time, but a tut between now and then would be rocktastic! ;o)

Second from Jenerally Speaking is an awesome diy tutorial for a pinata. Isn't it just so cute! I would consider doing it just for a decoration, not even a pinata she makes it look so easy!

Highs and Lows #10

Time again to re-cap the week. It was a pretty good one if I don't say so myself!

Highs
1) One of my favorite authors was in town promoting her new book (more on that in a moment) and my awesomely adorable friend Heather, who likes her just as much, got wrist bands at 8am Friday morning (I was at work) so that we could get our books signed later that night! Got in line with our designated group at 7:30 and got our books signed at 9:40... So stinkin' excited!
2) My awesometastic husband surprised me and brought home Smokin' Seventeen by Janet Evanovich on Thursday, June 23 which had apparently come out on June 21st. I didn't even know it. He then followed it up by telling me she was in Frisco signing books on Friday, June 24th. I didn't think I was going to get to go because of our soccer game being at 6:12... but on Friday morning Heather texted me and told me that our time was at 7:30 to get in line and I knew I could make it there even if I was hauling like a mad lady to get there. In retrospect I should have slowed down a little bit seeing as how our books weren't signed till almost 10:00pm.
3) Got in so much reading time after I got my new book that I finished the entire book in less than 72 hours. It was a good one! I have decided that chapter 28 and page 282 were my favorite parts of the book, and in part think that it is because I am 28 that this is so significant! It was "pretty cool"!
4) After the book signing Heather's super fantastic hubby Mike (who needs to get over the fear of having kids and have one already... had to throw that in there because ya'll would be awesome parents!!!) met us up at the mall and bought me dinner at Cheesecake Factory for my birthday!
5) Jake LOVED his Father's Day stuff! See yesterday's post to see what I am talking about!
6) Got to spend an amazing Saturday with our friends ALL day! It was so much fun from the dancing, to the fireworks, to the games, food, drinks, just everything was awesome! I am blessed to have such wonderful people in my life!

Lows
1) All that cake makes the scale be my frenimy... We are currently not on speaking terms, in fact I skipped yesterday mornings weigh in because I knew how bad it would be. This morning I didn't skip, but it wasn't forgiving either. Bad thing is I expect to eat equally as crummy this weekend. Eh, hard core workout and diet to commence on 7/5 when I return to work. Saying goodbye to cake may be the hardest one. I also will need to wake up for some crack of dawn 5:15am workouts too. Yuck! But my hips and thighs will thank me later!
2) My knee was REALLY hurting on Friday after the game where a girl knocked the side of my knee. It was still hurting Saturday and some on Sunday. It didn't hurt yesterday, but I am still thinking I should go see the doctor because I know I have some major scar tissue build up that needs to go.
3) I had scheduled to take Jake on a tour of the Dallas Cowboy Stadium, got him all excited about it, only for the tour to be canceled. Bummer! I felt so crummy even though it wasn't my fault!

Overall it was a great week! The tour getting canceled was the lowest low, but aside from that it was fantastic!

iDad - Father's Day Gift

Ok, so Jake and I are iPad fanatics! I mean we are attached at the hip to them, speaking of mine is sitting less than 5 feet away from me. Jake has had his iPad since they first came out so he has the original, I have the 2G iPad. They function the exact same, mine just has a couple different added features. No biggie though. Anyways, so for Father's Day I was wishy washy on what I was going to get him because we are the type of family that isn't patient waiting for holidays and that makes buying things for special occasions difficult because we typically have the things we want. So when I ran across this idea over at seven thirty three I knew I HAD to do this... She even provides the printable so that next year you can do this too!

So I printed off the design, painstakingly cut the flaps (this was time consuming, but so worth it), put it together, had Laci put her hand prints on the back and write her name, then added my notes under the flaps and wrote a little on the back. It was adorable!

I had to do the box too and decorate it to say iDad, I loved how it turned out, plus no mistaking it for an iPad... although he did at first, but I quickly corrected him before he opened up the box.

I lightened up this picture so that you could see I even modified the side. The effect was there anyways.

So when he opened the box he would find the card and that was super cute right?!? Up to this point I have spent nothing but my time.

I decided that I still wanted to get him something, and although the budget wasn't small, I wanted to use my creativity and do something for Jake. Along my path of searching iDad stuff I wanted to see what Cafe Press had to offer. I found the most adorable iDad shirt here but didn't want to spend $23.00 plus shipping.

Ultimately I decided that I was going to make him an iDad shirt... I stopped by Hobby Lobby the next day, got a white large shirt for $4.32 went home and made magic. If you don't know what I am referring to about my magic... I am referring to freezer paper stenciling the shirt and using my cricut to make the freezer paper designs. In my opinion this turned out so much cuter than the one I could have bought on Cafe Press, I mean hello mine has the cute apple logo. Score!

So when I packaged everything the shirt was under the blue tissue and the card was on top so that he would have to look at the card before the shirt. Here is the shirt... looks kind of squished in the box, but I was trying to get iDad to show when he pulled the tissue off...

He said he loved his iDad Father's Day. The cool thing was that it was something he never would have expected and he really loves his iPad so it was truly perfect!

It's Stinkin' Cute Craft Thursday #60

Ok, now that the rules yucky stuff is out of the way... Ya'll gave me so many good links last week narrowing them down was so difficult!!!

So what I decided to do was just do a quick mention of two that I thought were really neat that in the future will be a great thing to do with the kiddo or as a gift.

So Crissy's Crafts linked up these awesome little garden stakes.... go check them out, they are pretty neat! I could see Laci wanting to do that, or my friend because she has a garden.

Also, Sew Woodsy linked up a great mouse pad make over. This is awesome since I snagged a ton of them over a year ago and they are just sitting in my craft room. Talk about an easy gift!

Highs and Lows #9

Remember that REALLY crummy week the week before? Well it was super awesome town this week! Totally made up for the bad week from before.

Highs
1) Got to spend 3 whole days with one of my really good friends who lives in LA. I can't tell you with words what a great time I had. I stayed up till 3am every day, danced, went to the Dallas Cowboy Stadium, was on the jumbo tron there, had my picture taken on the Star in the middle of the field, had a bar full of people singing me Happy Birthday at 12:00am on my birthday(still blushing from this one), and just had a wonderful week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
2) My mommy made me chicken and rice for dinner on my birthday, bought me a Casa Linda birthday cake (I have had WAY too much cake this week) and got me some very sweet gifts that she didn't have to get.
3) I had an Aha Moment last week on my birthday.... so how many of you do face book? You do huh? See that little like button on the right hand bar... Like my page... feel free, take a moment, you know you want to.... Ok, on to the high. Well I have over 200+ some odd fb friends right. Well not even 1/4 of them said anything for my birthday. I mean I know that some people that I am friends with that say I don't do the HB facebook thing and said it in person, or via text, but I am talking about all those people that you know do the facebook happy birthday thing. Well you know my 10 year HS reunion is coming up this fall. My Aha Moment, I don't care! I wasn't friends with those people then, I obviously am not even remotely friends with them now, so why am I going to waste my time and money on people who are self centered and don't care about me? I have been doing a lot of thinking lately. Are there things that I would have changed before I met Jake? YES, but ultimately there isn't much that I would have done different. Those people who I grew up with, that made fun of me because I had glasses and didn't have the same designer clothes, the same ones that I cheered with, the ones that I spent all of my time... these are the same people I am talking about that do the facebook HB thing. My ultimate realization.... Why after years of commenting on their statuses, pictures, etc... am I still doing it? Sometimes it is because I see something that will catch my eye that I want to comment on, other times... I think subconsciously I was wanting to be like them and gain their friendship even after trying since we were in 4th grade. But, what I realized this week, it isn't about those friends that I don't have, it is about those that I do have. Female friends: Tia, Lauren, Ashley, Jen, Jennifer, Kelly, Andrea, Peggy, Stephanie, Nicki, Allyson, etc. (sorry if I missed you and you feel left out.. this is easy to edit so just call me out on it and I'll add you - I didn't put the guys on there, but you know who you are!!!)... These are the people it is about. The people that care about me, the people that want to ask how my day was regardless of it if is my birthday. The people that I care about knowing how they are doing, about their kids, jobs, lives outside of me. I think sometimes I might care too much, but that is my giving personality. But ultimately...

THIS IS WHAT IT IS ABOUT, my friends that care about me and I care about them!!! - It only took me 28 years to figure this out, but really this is what life is about! I am happier than ever and I know that it will only get better from here!

About my reunion, poll right now say 98% chance I am not going to go. I don't have a need to show off my life and what I have done with it, nor do I want others to do the same to me. At this particular moment in time I would rather eat dirt than go to my 10 year reunion.

4) Got to work out and do Body Pump again for the first time on Saturday! It felt great... for a couple hours anyways! :o)
5) Got to hang out with my best friend on Saturday night (she came out even though she was sicker than a dog - she still owes me for bailing early though).
6) It was just the best week ever! Nuff Said!

Lows
1) Hubby was working on my birthday, but it was ok, I call it a semi-low, because I never like being away from him regardless of the day.
2) My in-laws left town. I wish I could have spent more time with them and Steve and Sara, but they understood that I had plans previously.
3) Co-worker out the entire week... exhausting! I didn't get a thing done that I needed to do, just so that I could keep her desk clean. Eh, at least I felt like I did my part, just was exhausted at the end of the week.
4) Said work out from above has me walking like I was hit by a mac truck... I am SO sore that I would like to be doing nothing for a couple days.

It's Stinkin' Cute Craft Thursday #59

Thanks for bearing with me folks... my birthday week has been great, but kind of rough to recover from. Whew... gonna take a couple days and lots of sleep!

Ok, so I want this camera strap from Originate and Renovate! I love it and wish that I could make one like this, but the hubby would never touch the camera again... sigh... oh well!

If I ever went bananas (hehe totally didn't realize I wrote this till later hahaha) and decided to have another little kiddo I would have to do something similar to this adorable Baby Room for Emma! A little of this, a little of that sure does have a beautiful room to bring her bundle of joy home to!

In about a year or so I am going to have to make one of these! I love this monster tooth pillow! It is such a wonderful idea from Cute as a Fox! Makes an easier job for the tooth fairy!

Hope you are all having a great day! I have had a wonderful week so far with one of my friends who lives in LA. She was out in Dallas and I got the chance to stay and hang out with her. Needless to say, three nights in a row staying up till 3 am puts some exhaustion in the brain. At least I do not have bags under my eyes. I did get to go to the Dallas Cowboy Stadium party and was on the field. So super stinkin' awesome!!! Can't wait to share some of those pictures. Anyways, hope that everyone has a great day... I mean it is already a great day, because it's my birthday, but just sayin... hope everyone enjoys it as much as I am!

Highs and Lows #8

This is a long one folks, but if you want to be amused… just skip down to Lows #7… I am still laughing at myself.

Highs
1) Finally got Laci’s room all cleaned out. Her closet is now a library/stuffed animal/closet all in one… should have taken before and after. It was pretty trifling before, so I am not sure I would have wanted to show you that, but now she has her book shelf in her closet and her stuffed animals all pretty and arranged (that won’t last long), and her clothes all hung. I am pretty proud of myself that I finally got all the boxes of her old clothes out of her room and closet.
2) Continuing from before… Jake and Tim put lots of boxes in the attic of Laci’s old clothes. Yeah for them not cluttering up the house anymore.
3) As many of you know I did lots of stuff for my sister for baby Holden. I made the diaper bag, burp cloths, changing pad, car seat cover, diaper wipe holders, and embroidered some blankets. Well because of all of the hard work I put in my sister gave me the entire I Love Lucy set, or as the box says, The Whole McGillicuddy: All 9 Seasons! I was so stoked! This is defiantly going in my craft room for me to watch. I couldn’t thank them enough for the awesomeness this is!
4) So my birthday is Wednesday… I’ll be 28. It’s a number… so I don’t really care much about that… what I am super duper trooper excited about is that we got a cake from Say it with Sugar. Remember Laci’s birthday cake… er… how could you forget? Well the very bottom layer of it was Vanilla with Vanilla Cream. Can we say uh-mazing… so that is what I ordered for this cake. Yummy!
5) Some of the family got into town. It is so nice having them here. Laci is thrilled and already has them playing pirates and reading in her library.

Lows
1) Jake went out of town for two nights last week… I slept horrible both nights. I guess I am finally getting used to him breathing heavy. It helps to know that he is there too…
2) You know to clean a mess you have to make a mess, so needless to say I made a big mess in the game room which got cleaned Wednesday night so that some of the family had a place to stay starting Thursday.
3) No nap on Sunday makes for a cranky Laci… just sayin’ I don’t like going to Cheer without one, but that is really the only option because the practice is from 1-3. I don’t know about you, but who ever made the schedule for the team didn’t take in to consideration that most 3-5 year olds take a nap from 12-2 on Sundays. Just Sayin’… not the brightest move. I bet when the owners kiddo is on the team that she will think about that and the practice will be moved to the 3-5 time slot. Either way… we will push through!
4) So after cheer last week we had a BD party to go to. Sorry if I am offending anyone, but get this… so we told them we couldn’t get there till 3 because of cheer practice. So we were an hour late. We get there and they are cooking outside (food was great), flies were swarming by the hundreds… it was icky. Had to fan my food with one hand while I ate with the other. I hate flies…. They are grody! Anyways, not where I was going with this. So they had a bounce house for the kids to play in and some other toys, but when we left at 4, they still had not done the piñata, cut the birthday cake, or opened the presents. That is (2) hours after it started. Laci was so upset that we were leaving before the cake that we went to go get cake from the store. Jake and I were hot and tired and he needed to pack. So the low on this one should really read… if you are going to have a birthday party where you invite your school friends keep it to two hours. We have other things we need to do than spend 4 hours at a birthday party. Have a separate party with all of your family if you want to have a long party, or just do all the party stuff in the first two hours so that we feel like we can leave and aren’t being too rude. Luckily we had a reason to leave, but seriously… am I not right on this one? Thoughts?!?
5) Buckle in… this is a long one - So last Sunday before Cheerleading we had to go get the gift for the birthday party so we stopped at Walmart. When we were there we saw these acrylic glasses that came in 4 different colors and would be perfect so that everyone would have a re-usable glass with lid and straw to use while the family was down and everyone would know who’s glass is who’s. So we go to check out and this manager was talking to the cashier telling her she needed to go to break or something, then walked off. My cashier turns to the other associate standing behind her and just keeps griping, complaining and *itching… that she had just come back from lunch and shouldn’t be going on break yet, yada yada yada. So finally 90% of the way through my transaction the cashier finally acknowledges me and continues to check me out. Jake and I were in a hurry and I was grabbing my bags. The cashier kept talking to the associate. 5 hours later we get home from cheer/the birthday party/shopping…. Guess what bag wasn’t in the car? Yup… the bag with the glasses in them. She must have given them to the next person, kept them herself, or put them back on the shelves. So I immediately call. I mean I am not a penny pincher by any means. But this was a bad experience and $20 in glasses and that irked me to no end. I stayed on hold for 11 minutes before I finally got a manager. I explained to her everything that happened and she insisted on giving me a gift card for $50 to reimburse me for the glasses I paid for and for the bad experience (I am cutting a lot of the convo out, but she was appalled that I was treated like that). I tried to talk her out of giving me anything more than the credit for the glasses, but she was adamant. SO, one good thing down. She told me to go the next day and talk to a specific manager and that she would let them know about giving me the gift card and take care of me. Long story short…. I go ask for that manager, they have no idea who I am or why I am there because the manager I spoke with on the phone didn’t tell her I was coming. I must have been convincing with my story because after 10 minutes she came out and started getting me the $50 gift card. I had told her to call the other manager and to take her time… so when she came back I asked her if the manager had told her what had happened. She said no that she didn’t even get her to answer the phone. I said I am sure if you look at the video you can see, she told me she already looked at it. So I guess she saw enough to tell her the same thing. Anyways, I thanked them and then went to go get my four glasses. I went to the check out and there was an older woman, a younger woman who I presume is her daughter with a double stroller with twin boys. The cashier didn’t seem all too friendly and when I went to grab my bag after checking out and noticed that the lady in front of me had a bag with two Tupperware containers in it. Being the good Samaritan I am I took the bag to the lady with the stroller. When she thanked me I told her no worries, it happened to me yesterday. Anyways, long story short… if you are a cashier at a Walmart…. Pay attention! Twice in 24 hours…. Amazing right!
6) Ford Credit – Anyone use them? No… DON’T! So I schedule my online payments once a month. A it takes (2) days to process, so if I go on line on a Monday to schedule a payment I can’t actually schedule it until Wednesday. I am horrible at remembering this, so I always pay a day or so late but its no biggie. Well come to find out that the payment I scheduled last month didn’t go through for some reason… I know I keep getting asked how I didn’t know, dude… I hate checking my bank account. Sometimes it’s depressing you know. So I avoid it as much as I can. Anyways, because of this (2) days process BS last months payment was then 30 days late and they put it on my credit. Didn’t call to say hey your payment is late, no e-mail, nothing in the mail… NADA! Jerks!
7) Fell Going Up the Stairs – Thursday night I may have had a little bit of Alcohol… Blame it on the a-a-a-a-a-a-alcohol…. Yup, I had one too many Blueberry Vodkas and Hawaiian Punches… I was running up the stairs and at the turn must have missed my stepping and face planted right into the dry wall. No dry wall damage luckily. Hehehe… Yeah so I have a beautiful red mark on my face. Make up is currently doing its best to hide some of it.
8) Knee Hurting – During said fall up the stairs… yes, up… anyways, I nailed the tar out of my knee and had a bruise less than 12 hours later. Plus when putting the air mattress together I tweaked it… Hopefully it will be ok. Yup I still played soccer on Friday. I know smart right!?!
9) Tire – On my ways to work on Friday and my low tire pressure light came on. I got up to Laci’s school as fast as I could safely and pulled over. My sensor is a savior. I pull over and get out and my left front tire is going sssssss…. Not a good sign. Call and wake up my amazing hubby Jake who comes up to meet me in his car and my super duper awesome Father In Law following behind with another car. I took off to take the doggie in for her re-check and get to work while they spent the next 2.5 hours getting my tire off, taking it to get a new one, then taking it back to be put on, then taking it up to the place to get 3 more. I have a great family!
10) Tire Blew in front of me – As I was taking the doggie to the vet I had the pleasure of finally seeing/hearing what it was like for a tire to blow while going 70 mph… ok he was probably only going 50 as he was about to exit. Sounded like a gun being shot off, stuff flew from the tire onto the car and it was terrifying. The guy was ok, but I am sure he was ticked… been there, done that… sorry it happened to you too pal. Hope your day got better!
11) Tired of doing the linky list… This one I am sadder about than anything else that I have written about. I love doing the linky list. I mean I have met so many cool people on it and really enjoy seeing what everyone has come up with. It’s been 58 weeks (14 months) of doing it and I just can’t seem to get it to catch on like I wanted to. I mean I did giveaways, I have usually 2-3 features a time. It is exhausting. Hopefully this feeling passes, because I don’t want to stop doing it, I just don’t want it to feel like a chore. Ignore me… its been a bad week!

Needless to say I have had a crummy week. I have had some great highs, but some super stinky lows. The good news out of all of this is that I will probably have a better week next week. Oh wait… I know I am going to have a good week. My friend Lauren comes in from out of town and I get to party like a rockstar (literally – she is pimp like that) on her companies dime. Yup, she is stellar and I love hanging out with her. Can’t wait to see her! Anyways, here’s to another week… may next week bring me good news or something.

Baby Gift for Miss Madyx

I can't help it, I love to be crafty and cute. It is in my blood. Actually as I was at my sewing machine making myself feel better last night I asked my mom, who had come over and was sitting there with me, if she was thrilled when I started being crafty. Her answer was a resounding yes. She said that she was very happy that she had someone to share her gift with. I on the other hand am very glad to have received that gift.

So remember when I was miffed that we were not informed that there was a baby shower for one of the owners of where Laci is at Cheer (also where I went 12 years ago, so I have known this person for a REALLY long time)? Well I got over being miffed at the old team mom and decided to make a baby basket gift that would WOW no matter the fact that it was a week late.

So with out further ado, here is the completed gift basket that I made for little Miss Madyx. Isn't it adorable? I loved how it turned out.

Question, if you actually went out and paid for a basket this adorable, how much would you pay or someone that had a lot of money pay for it?

So I know you are all wanting to know about the tutorial for the diaper wipe holder. Well I did take REALLY good pictures when I was putting it together, so now I have to figure out how to make a pattern, any one experienced pattern makers that want to help me out? No... ok... I'll figure it out on my own. Anyways, so I am working on that for ya'll. It may take some time to write up because it is going to be VERY picture heavy and lots of little explanations here and there.

Highs and Lows #7

I have to say my list is working out rather nicely. I don't forget what I want to write and then in turn have things to talk about.

Highs
1) The Gift Basket for Baby Madyx was finished and given (I think and hope that the mommy to be liked it a lot, because a lot of heart went into that one)... I still need to upload pictures from my camera.
2) Speaking of uploading pictures... I still haven't uploaded pictures from the zoo. Boo!!! Maybe tonight when I get home since Jake is out of town and my computer is already downstairs I will do it.
3) Had a wonderful weekend with friends and family for Memorial Day. We had friends and family come over on Sunday and did a HUGE cook out. One of the couples brought their son who is totally adorable. Laci and Darian played so well together. They are just super stinkin cute. They played in the water and with bubbles. It was so much fun!
4) Family came over Monday and we cooked out more. I love spending QT with family!!!
5) We started playing soccer again on Friday nights with our friends. I played ok, Jake scored (he is a natural) and needless to say the team had a great time together. Jake has since decided that he is going on a diet because he felt like he was going to die after the game was over. I told him that might have something to do with the fact that he played two games. He insisted that it isn't.
6) Can't tell you how much I love my job it is that much, but I can tell you I had an awesome day at work on Thursday! It stinks that what I do I can't tell everyone about it, but just know that what I have been trained to do is finally sinking in my brain and I am getting to use my skills! It is super awesome!
7) Took the doggie to the doctor. They were REALLY nice seeing as how I hadn't taken her in for a while. I signed her up for the wellness plan and she got lots of shots, but most important she got medication for her skin. (update on that it is starting to look better, we go back to the dr on Friday) I did get told she needs to come in for a teeth cleaning which I already knew. She won't be too happy about me taking her, but her breath is stinky... so it has to be done since she won't chew on bones anymore.

Lows
1) When having that super awesome so much fun cook out... we got flies. They were bad... I mean really bad. It took till Thursday night for them to pretty much be gone. We are still killing one or two here and there, but this is crazy. Have I mentioned yet that I hate flies! They are yucky! <-- more on flies issue next week... kind of like a TBC... 2) Doggie had some wierd skin issue on her back. They were like white heads all over her back. Very gross... ewe! Took her to the doctor as stated above. She is doing much better. 3) Doggie runs from me every time I go to give her the medication... When will she learn I am going to win. 4) Didn't get to work out once this week... I don't think anyways, I can't remember if I did, so I am going to say I didn't... <-- that is how my weeks have been lately. Pretty much a blur! 5) Still trying to do thank you cards for Laci's party... finally got them printed off, now to write on them... oh wait, that would require me knowing where the list of what was given to her is... I feel stupid now. Just Sayin'! I know there were probably more lows, but really that is all I can think of. The flies were the worst. Totally gross! Insert Gag here... Anyways, as always I am really enjoying linking up and I think that this list thing is going to work out pretty well for me. :o) Have a great week folks!

Dame Design Studio linked up an adorable Flower Power Maxi Dress that I would love to make for none other than myself! I think that would be a fun easy way to get into doing clothing.

Although I don't want an In-N-Out Burger Wall, I do want to try one... they just opened one up in Frisco and I really am looking forward to trying it once there isn't a 2 hour wait or I don't have to go at midnight. Anyways, La Dee Da Creations must like it a lot to do a tribute!

Highs and Lows #6

You know it is kind of funny. See, I have a horrible memory. I mean REALLY bad. So I try and make lists and write stuff down as much as possible. Unfortunately, I some how can’t seem to remember stuff that happened just last week. I know… REALLY?!?! You must be asking how bad my memory is if I can’t remember that. Well… let me at least re-cap the things that I can remember. I am actually starting to make a list for next week so that I don't forget some of the highs and lows... I mean maybe I should just forget so that they all even out and I just forget, but I really like this highs and lows reminder every week. Makes me thankful for what I have.

Highs
1) I got to work on the baby basket for Miss Madyx quite a bit last week (if you follow me on Facebook, you have already seen the finished result).
2) My husband was amazing and one day cleaned our entire bedroom.
3) The next day my amazing wonderful awesome hubby surprised me and cleaned the bathroom too… I know he is pretty stinkin’ cool… that’s why he is mine.
4) I got a new printer at work… it is huge… I mean really big!
5) Found out I am getting a new monitor at work in the next couple weeks. It will be a 24” monitor… holy big batman!
6) Went to the zoo with my mom’s school on Friday and the whole family ended up going. I can’t wait to put some of the awesome pictures up.
7) This year I made sure that I looked like a rock star… ok semi rock star at the zoo so that I wasn’t ashamed of the pictures with me in them… I looked awesome.
8) Didn’t get pooped on when the bird was on my shoulder… that is a better high than I could have requested!
9) Saw the awesome new bird show at the Dallas Zoo… it was uh-mazing!
10) Going to start playing on a co-ed soccer team on Fridays. I am terrified and excited all at the same time. I want to wear my knee brace but don’t know if I should, kind of conflicted on that one. I am going to because I want to be safe, but wondering since it has been a couple years if I should let the brace stay in the closet and collect dust and me brave it out. For those of you who don’t know I tore, no shredded my ACL and tore my MCL playing soccer in January of 2009. A guy fell on top of me because he was being a jerk when he was playing and then walked off the field before I could even get his number to deck him later… regret ever since… He cost me so much money and pain he deserves a good black eye right? After 2.5 years you would think I could let it go a little bit. But whatever…. It’s just too little too late on that one…
11) Finally gave Pinterist a try… can we all say this is totally AWESOME!!!

Randoms - Not really sure where to classify it…
1) Had to remove because I don't want people getting mad at me...

Lows
1) Laci was bit by fire ants… she is allergic to ants and in her 4 years she was bit by some regular ants last year and then 3 fire ants this year. So I think that is pretty good for a kid. However, she is very allergic. Her poor leg got one bite and her hand got two others. Her leg was the worst though with a HUGE welt on it that was so hot to the touch. The doctor gave her (4) medications… YIKES! They were zyrtec, singular, prednisolone, and cephalexin… I am glad to say that she is all better now though. I hope she isn’t bit again, for at least another year.
2) Had to remove because I don't want people getting mad at me...
3) Laci has started to not want to go to bed… I am putting a stop to that this week. I can’t take it anymore.
4) Worked out twice and didn’t lose any weight, then was very active at the zoo on Friday and was active the rest of the weekend too… It isn’t like I am eating bad, I am just not eating really good (skipping meals because I truly am not hungry)… I am trying this next week to eat 3 meals a day (not skipping) and to have snacks to keep my metabolism going… Reminds me of the movie Big Daddy when the cute little kid is saying it… oh, heart melts…
5) Realized I am not very good at putting on nail polish, yet I keep trying anyways…
6) Sewing machine ate a onesie… Nuff said.
7) Our IT department doesn’t like me because I am a little bit bossy… No you don’t say. Well sorry if I respectfully request that you do your job and do what you are told.
8) Really bad weather in the DFW area last week. The hubbys aunts house had the only tornado in Irving start on top of their house and make a BIKE size hole in the roof. At least everyone was ok, and the damage is repairable!

Sewing Trick

Have you seen those Saturday morning sewing shows and thought to yourself... that lady is weird, or those projects are REALLY dumb! Well, regardless I still watch them because the techniques that they feature are really neat!

So one Saturday morning I was sitting there watching one of them about hemming shirts or something. Ok, feel free to insert in Julie is a dork for watching these shows... Well call me names, but this was so awesome I almost jumped out of my chair I couldn't wait to try it!

So the featured lady was showing that she was hemming and she didn't like marking the fabric and then making sure it was folding perfect all the way across, etc. I was saying internally since the rest of the house was asleep "SAY IT SISTA... I KNOW HOW YA FEEL" it was then that this magical lady pulled out a piece of poster board an inch thick all the way down. Her fabric was right side down, then she folded the edge of the fabric up one inch to the edge of the poster board and ironed on top of the fabric with the poster board inside. She said it wouldn't harm the fabric or the poster board. I knew I could totally use this technique for my burp cloths and thought... alright lets try this baby out!

So I took my poster board and cut out a one inch strip...

Then I took my fabric and cut the 17" wide x 10" tall piece of fabric...
Ok, I forgot to take a picture of this one, but imagine a picture of a piece of fabric in a rectangle. :o)

Then I took my poster board and started folding up the edge on the long side all the way down and ironing the inch piece up all the way down using the poster board as my guide...

Then I flipped it and did the other side. Once I was done it was 17" by 8" and looked like this...

Then I folded it wrong sides together and ironed down....

After this I found the center point on one side and embroidered the name on it. Then I sewed it on a two ply cloth you can get in packs in the baby area at walmart or target. The cloth was inside the fabric fold so the pretty fabric is on both sides at the bottom. You just pin it to make sure that when you sew that you will hit both sides when you sew... it is ok if the back isn't perfectly straight. They won't be looking at the back, promise. Then just tuck in the sides towards the back and sew up the sides to close in the hole. Let me know if you need more pictures of this part. Anyways, it makes for VERY cute burp cloths, even if you don't embroider them!

Here it is folded in half (oh, see that little button? It's cute right?!?! That is my screw up fix, so who said that making mistakes can't turn out cuter? For those with inquisitive minds.. I accidentally cut a tiny hole in the fabric, so after straightening it from the back I sewed the cute button... no one was the wiser and I didn't have to re-embroider something. I did sew a button to one other one so it didn't look out of place)...

Let me just add here, that once I tried it... it saved me so much time I couldn't believe I hadn't thought of it before. We are talking take one item that took 30 minutes to mark and iron down to less than a couple minutes to be ready for embroidery. Uhm, HEAVEN!!!

So what do you think of my new trick? How about the burp cloth? Pretty easy to embellish huh?

I am so proud of myself that I am pre-doing this so that it shows up first thing Thursday morning to all my lovely linkers! Just wondering by the way? Is it June yet? No. Oh, ok... only one more week. Anyways, hope that everyone has had a wonderful week! This was a great week for link-ups I had a REALLY hard time picking ones to feature they were all that good!

Do you have a baby? Do you notice that they chew on the railing of their bed? Yeah it happened... makes me wish that I had this when Laci was a baby... Oops... too late. Anyways, Little Rays of Sunshine has done a NO SEW Crib Rail Tutorial. It is pretty awesome!

Us and Them hit the nail on the head with what ANY parent of toddlers needs! I couldn't imagine having twins. These Time Out Stools must be perfect for those moments when they can't seem to get along! I need to make one for my little munchkin!

Last, but certianly not least Gabriel's Good Tidings shows us how to make an ADORABLE polka dot paper garland. I will have to do this in the future. Even better is the fact that I could use my cricut to cut all different size circles. This is just too awesome! Thank you for sharing!

Can't you just see yourself making at least (1) if not all three of those things. I mean if I was a SAHM I would be working on them as we speak. Instead, they go on my bucket list of things to do for myself or others when the time comes.

Baby Shower Gift - Baby Logan

It's no secret... I am a sucker for (A) giving gifts that I know people will not forget who gave it to them & (B) things with names on them. I wasn't expecting to be a part of this one, but when I was asked to help I of course couldn't say no. I really like this mom and think very highly of her and her family.

So for my part of the baby shower I was just told to bring flowers. Well... I don't like flowers that will die, so I decided to make a diaper cake (don't worry I got approval to change) so that I could make it in advance since last weekend was a nightmare and not have to worry about arranging them or getting them there without spilling them... you get the point. It turned out pretty stinkin cute... man I am getting good at these!

For the top little "lollypops" they are a spoon and a wash cloth all rolled up. Can we all say "SUPER EASY!!!" I was not going to spend $5 on etsy for each one when I could make them myself for $1 each. Nuff said! They turned out perfect!

The shower was really low key with just about 8 of us. It was at a reasturant so no need to volunteer a house or do food. It was fun. It was a really great setting!

For my gift I did a basket with an assortment of things she had asked for and I wanted to give. So the easy things first... Bottle from the line of bottles she uses, (2) onsies that coordinate in the basket and then some creams. Also in there are (4) burp cloths with Logan embroidered on them and the diaper wipe holders I am famous for raving about. I need to make a pattern since I altered it from the one I found and add some directions and link it up somewhere. I know Ms. Ashley over at CAAF is looking at getting a copy. Let me know if anyone else wants a copy too. Without further ado... here is the gift basket all done up and put together...

Highs and Lows

My internal dialogue this morning is repeating over and over... "I survived the weekend, I survived the weekend, I survived the weekend..." So this morning is starting off with coffee and LOTS of it. But because I really enjoy this linky party, before I do anything else, this is getting done so I can recap the week.

Highs

1) I got all the birthday party and baby shower gifts made for the parties we/I went to this weekend done by Thursday night. (will post pictures when I decide to plug my camera in to my computer and upload pics)

2) Had a great time at the birthday party we went to for a Cheer friend on Saturday morning. It was at Young Chefs Academy in Frisco... they were great and the kids had an awesome time.

3) Enjoyed a couple hours with my BFF and her kiddos for her sons Pre-K graduation party at her park/splash pad.

4) Had a rockin' awesome time at Taste of Addison with some soccer friends and Jake, got to see a couple bands I had heard of and then saw Third Eye Blind (dude I actually knew 4 songs... who would have known).

5) Went to a baby shower for one of the kids moms in Laci's class and was thrilled to see that she liked the gifts I had made/bought for her.

6) Laci did her back bend back kick over ALL BY HER SELF... WOOT WOOT!! We were so proud of her!

7) Laci was also one of the 4 flyers yesterday! She was so stinkin' cute! She REALLY wants to fly. Hopefully she stays tiny enough to fly.

8) At Taste of Addison the Charbroil lady Jake was talking to was so excited that Jake was excited and gave him tons of free stuff. The best thing was this little scraper tool for his grill that cleans off the stuff left behind. She was GREAT!

9) Stayed the night at the Springhill Suites in Addison so that we didn't have to drive. This allowed us to have an AWESOME time and we actually stayed up till 2:00 am. OOPS! It was so worth it because we were having such a wonderful time!

10) Cooked out with the family last night at our house and spent some QT with my new lil Nephew... he is so stinkin' cute!

Lows

1) I was so worried the entire week last week about getting the gifts put together and done, and worrying about getting to each place on time, packing, etc. that it made the week very stressful. I don't think I could have worried about anything else for this weekend.

2) At the birthday party Saturday morning Laci acted like a little baby. It took me 20 minutes of her sitting on the bathroom floor cris-cross-applesauce-spoons in a bowl and telling her that she needed to go in the other room (we could see her through the glass and she could see us) and stop acting like a baby. It frustrates me to no end, because some parents think it is cute and sweet, me on the other hand thinks... LISTEN CHILD... YOU ARE 4 YEARS OLD AND WILL GO TO SCHOOL NEXT YEAR, YOU HAVE TO STOP ACTING LIKE THIS! IT IS HORRIBLE! She makes me embarrassed every time she does it, I mean I understand that you don't know everyone at the party, but honestly once I finally got her in there (there were some pretty heavy threats of no toys, no tv and no other parties) she was smiling and having a great time making pizza and cupcakes. Yet it took me 20 minutes of being the bad guy to get her in there. I don't like to be the bad guy, why does she make me be the bad guy? Does anyone else go through this? I am not alone right? She is too pretty and too cute to act like this.

3) I can dress my hubby up, but I can't take him out... He got Hawaiian Punch on one shirt and grease on the other. Same goes for Laci, at least I know where she gets it. She got RED Fruit Punch Poweraide on her brand spankin new white cheer shoes. It was on the tongue, the stitching, the laces... she nailed it alright! But to turn this low up to a medium I got EVERYTHING out with Murphy's Oil Soap... this stuff truly is the bombdigity! It took about 20 minutes to get everything out and ready for the washer or to set out to dry and then my hands smelled nice and MOSey (that is sarcasm at its finest.. plus it made my hands dry). But, on the upside everything came out.

4) Had to remove because I don't want people getting mad at me...

5) I didn't know it was possible to gain the amount of weight I gained in less than 3 days. That made all the work I did last week pointless. Needless to say the gym and me have a date tonight. Just an FYI... Gym (I feel like I should treat Gym like he is a man named Jim just spelled differently that I have animosity against) I don't like you today, I probably won't like you for a while, but I will see you tonight for a sweaty date.

I am sure that there is more that I am totally forgetting, but I am unable to think of. So, as a whole, the HIGHS totally outweigh the LOWS... but some of those LOWS really made me upset or angry... the weight one especially.

I really wanted to call in sick today... I mean I wasn't super sick so I didn't but Just Sayin'... I wanted to but couldn't bring myself to do it! I am just not like that, so instead I was running 30-45 minutes late... but it's better than not showing up right!

So what makes you feel better than when you are feeling down? Chocolate! I really wish I could crawl through my computer screen and eat one of these Peanut MnM Cupcakes right now, but judging by the look of them Jocelyn over at Inside BruCrew Life wouldn't have any left over because well lets face it... they look THAT good!

Also, one thing I am really glad is up is the tut from Tara over at Tales of a Trophy Wife for her pinwheels on her mantle. I need to make some for a diaper cake and this tutorial will totally help me out!

Highs and Lows

Highs

1) IBK practice started this week... Laci has done pretty good the first two times. Hopefully she keeps enjoying it.
2) Got the rest of the data off of the external hard drive.
3) Enjoying the weekend with the hubby and Laci.
4) Spending time with my sewing machine... enough said.
5) Almost finished with Holden's baby announcement. Every time I turn around there is a tweak that I have to do, but at least I am almost done.
6) Went to the gym this week. Once. Hey, I am proud I went once... tomorrow I am going again.

Lows

1) Trying to get Laci to stop sucking her thumb... I am starting to think this is an impossible task.
2) I need new boots bc mine are killin me... Dont have the time to get new ones.
3) I don't even need to remind you that I managed to totally miss the boat on ISCCT this week. I mean really.... How did I miss the fact that it was Thursday!
4) Never fail my contacts start killing me at 9:45pm... It is rather annoying!
5) I can't catch a break on trying to do Laci's thank you notes. I finally designed them, but have to print them and write the thank you on them.
6) I have 4 burp cloths to make, already did the diaper wipe holders... will have to do at night this week... yucky, I prefer to sew on the weekend!

I am so tired, I can't think of any more right now. Hopefully this week will be a great week for everyone, me included.. Oh and that I keep my days straight this week. Over all it was a good week, it just was weird, maybe because I was so busy!

Wow... I am just totally out of sync right now. I can't talk and I obviously am doing such a poor job at posting... hopefully this weekend gives me some much needed RnR to be normal next week. Grr. I'm Sorry! That reminds me of that song.. "I'm Sorry, So Sorry..." hehehe

Anyways, I am just going to do one quick feature...

I wish I had seen this super duper cute Teacher Gift from Simply Designing... I may have to do a late gift seeing as how we were in major teacher transition and I didn't know who was the teacher in Laci's class last week. Don't ask!
